I have decided to try and get some kind of AIO, so until then, here are pics with all of the cables tidy and a Cooler Master fan added to keep my CPU cooler when I render. An update after that will be when I get a 500GB 2.5" drive as a scratch disk which will be thrown in the back with my 250GB 840 EVO.

Change in plans: I'm gonna try to have my dad get me two SP120 PE's (PWM of course) with the rings so I can do push/pull on my 212 EVO. After that, I'll get a splitter cable and then a CM Storm Devastator bundle (mainly for the backlit keyboard and an extra mouse, and it will go well with everything). Following that I might try to get the ML03B for Ares.

Since the fan on my 212 EVO is one of the louder things in my system (air woosh and motor noise), I replaced it with a dirty-ass NZXT fan which is quieter, keeps it about as cool, and has a lower startup voltage. So... I can run semi-passive. Web browsing seems to let it stay mostly passive (kicks on here and there). Then when I do much of anything partially intensive, the fan will kick on. So, here are some pics and a crappy video.

 

I plan on keeping it like this until I can coax my mom into buying me a Seidon 120V, since I'm hoping that it will be quieter. That's why I have the fans in the top removed, since I might put it up there if there is proper clearance. Otherwise, the rear fan will go into the rear top slot as an intake (will be controlled separate from the front fans) and the AIO will go in the rear of the case. Probably.

Alright, a few small updates. I took my GTX 480 out for a few reasons: 1. Quieter 2. Less heat (summer is on its way, after all)

 

Yeah. That's about it. My case looks sooooo empty now. Wanna try and get a GTX 750 ACX to replace it, since the iGPU isn't up to snuff for what I do on my secondary monitor, and I like to mess around with DSR set to 4K.

 

Secondly, I put the 250GB WD Blue in my OptiPlex 760 USFF for my NAS, so it's been replaced by an 80GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.10.

 

Thirdly, I had to swap out the NZXT fan with the stock fan again, since it wouldn't kick back on after it turned off.

 

And finally, my mom has supposedly ordered an Apex [RAW], so now I can have a keyboard which is quieter and also backlit, which will be a huge help.

Yes I am. I wanna swap out my PSU since it's freaking loud. I turned off/stopped every single fan other than that one and the noise was slightly decreased. It's so loooooud.

If it weren't for the possibility that a 120V would be louder and hotter, I would probably grab one after I sold a few of my older processors.

Alright. Got the CX750M in the ol girl. So much quieter. I had to check all the fans to make sure they were spinning lol wish I had a DSLR (eventually...) so the first pic would have turned out better.

I was looking at Z97 motherboards and RAM to replace the Athlon 7850BE in my backup rig, as well as some ITX boards to make a neat little rig.

 

If it makes you feel better, I bought a Q6600, realized it was half as fast as my Pentium, and then threw Server 2012 R2 on it and made it a NAS for my grandmas (it was supposed to be a dedicated video editing machine).

How has the TFIII held Up?

Amazingly well. Only way it would be better is if I had more thermal pads for my VRAM.

Well duh. There's two more cores, and all 4 have hyper threading.

 

It was a breath of fresh air going from a 2.8GHz Prescott P4 to a 2.4GHz Northwood with HT.

In a totally unexpected turn of events, this PC is now rocking my GTX 480 as the main GPU.

 

But why would I take out the more powerful 7950 to use a 480? Well... I think the power delivery on the AMD card is taking a shit. I was playing Beam.NG and sitting around 30% GPU use, and I noticed I was getting horrible interference through the rear audio. Plugged it in up front, and it was fine. I poked my head inside and determined all of it was coming from the card. It sounded like a wire hitting a fan, but that was not the case. I threw my 480 in, installed drivers, and bam. Just like that the interference was gone.

 

And I honestly ain't even missing the 7950 so far. Out of the few games I've played so far (GTA IV and Fallout 4 being the most notable), only GTA and Fallout took a performance hit. GTA just needed to go from 1080p max to 1080p high with render distances and traffic changed to 50, and Fallout 4 needed to go from 1080p medium-high to 1080p medium. I'll honestly miss the VRAM the most.

 

Along with the GPU swap, I decided to take out my ODD and scratch disk as well and I donated them to my second rig, mostly to reduce noise and cable clutter.

 

So, I guess I might as well post a pic I took with the 480 installed.
