One thing that fustrates me is that since I'm on a fixed income, I'm still stuck with this aging Dell N5110 laptop that I did upgrade to 8GB and Windows 10--it does have certain issues where I have to reinstall the USB 3.0 drivers every now and again when Windows 10 does a major upgrade.

Since I am running this sheer potato of a computer it does limit my ability to play anything really modern or top-tier. But it does handle Minecraft Bedrock well and I can play Kerbal Space Program with an abysmal frame rate--but still playable.

Anyhow, I have been working on a Minecraft Creative server--I usually play Survival and I have had some fun with different builds.

What FPS you getting? Also can you share on/off comparison? I don't see a huge different when using it so i turn it off and stick to MXAO.

It has about a 30% hit on performance with the settings I'm using. I'm going for a 60 FPS target, but a flickering depth buffer makes it distracting with the RT cuts in and out. Also, this is using the original demo build PG released a few months ago, so it's not representative of where the plugin is at now. Even if the depth buffer didn't cut in and out, the visual artifacts of the plugin makes it unusable IMO. Great for screenshots, not so good for gaming. I'm sure it'll be fixed with the plugin hits full release.

Anywho

Looks great imo.

30% is pretty good, mine over 2x the performance drop from like 130-ish FPS to 40fps-50fps. ?

Yeah i also only use it for taking screenshot now.

Flickering depth buffer is related to network, you need to find Reshade build with network detection turn off or compile it yourself. They did that to prevent cheat detection from some online games.

Thanks! The RT plugin seems to do good things for MHW. The MT Framework engine really doesn't do Monster Hunter any justice

That's a pretty heavy hit lol

I've found that lowering the Ray Length to 5 and Ray Amount to 7 yields a good balance of performance and quality.

That's what I thought as well, but it actually seems to be GUI related. There's a custom build of 4.4 over on the PG discord that someone compiled without network checking, and it still gets the flickering even while offline.

I've been able to replicate the symptom by pulling up the item chest menu. It also happens during combat from time to time, but that's harder for me to replicate.

I play MHW but never get enough time to grind all the good stuff and to jump to every event available, too busy with real life, but this one is an old time favorite series I play.

I was a hardcore MH player since the 1st series in PS2, but as I'm getting aged while the game is getting better I got no time to push myself anymore in this game. Currently I'm an HR 74 offensive HH main with as offensive skill set as I can get under the mixed Drachen armor when I played it last time around 2 months ago.

I got no event armor sets except the Drachen set which was the only event I can put much efforts and time for it, so I think Im being left so far away from the current meta, and grinding for even "a single" Attack decoration for my armor is awfully frustrating grinds.

Wanted to try the new mechanics of the HH in Ice Born but idk if I can get that chance when the time is coming.

Basically Im a hardcore MH veteran who turns into an aged casual hunters with so little time into the game and also Im a dedicated 2 kids father.

I really wanted to jump back to the game but life is life..

Ever joined a very active and dedicated hunting group, but I was left waaaay behind most of the members to stay up to date with what is up with the game and what is the current meta etc, and ended up left the group, as I was mostly playing solo instead rather than playing with the group members.

Rarely shoot an SOS because I feel better to go by myself rather than with randoms, so if I fail I dont have to blame anyone but myself.

But, anyone doesnt mind carry me up? Lol

I don't do hardcore play.  Mostly casual player myself (xD  I just got to HR63).  I played since the first one as well since the PS2 (talk about grinding - I had no internet back then, so had to solo the first game).

:3  I'm always down to play co-op with a HH user.

Im rusty a.f. right now..

Did you guys played Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate?

That one is the one which I spent the most hours among all MH series.

I was one of the highly active members in "Relics Hunters" group 3 years ago, if you ever heard about it. That group was awesome. Wanted to meet and play with them again in MHW but never find any formers of that group in MHW.

I did and one other did, yes. There's a couple others in my gaming community that's played MH4U, but they're currently infrequent to MHW.

I've been playing since the first MH, and have played through most of the other installments along the way. Aside from MHW (~650 hours), the one I've sunk the most time in was Generations (~125 hours). MH4U I have around 90 hours sunk, which is actually about the average for me with past installments.

I never did any versions on handheld.  Small screen of the 3DS puts me off.

Most of my experience is the first one on PS2 and MHW on PC.  Though, very tempted to pick up one that is remastered for the Switch since I can then play that one on a big TV.
