Rise of the Tomb Raider got its dx12 patch yesterday, and while it did nothing performance wise for me, it did add VXAO, and it looks quite impressive.

 

In order: AO OFF -> SSAO (ON) -> HBAO+ -> VXAO

 

 

Sadly it was raining in game, so the weather was dull, limits the lighting some amount. So an indoor comparison (again, order of Off -> On -> HBAO+ -> VXAO)

 

 

What you have to ask yourself is whether or not you decide it's worth the quite substantial FPS hit to turn on. Ran the benchmark a few times on my pc, results were consistent. Note that since I'm done with the game, it has been relegated to my mass storage drive, which results in some stutter loading scenes like the bench, hence the odd low fps compared to the average/max.

Nah its nothing game breaking but annoying. Sometimes you fall trough the floor, or you get stuck in the terrain. Item comparisons sometimes compare the wrong items, for example compare sidearm dps with main-weapon. Menu's don't always have the same layout of even buttons to do the same action. Map updates slow or refuses to remove found items until i restart. Stuff like that.

I told my 580 that it will have it's Vram filled and that day came, you know the 580 though could push it well TBH.. 4K parallax textures everywhere, grass mods etc.. it did well, stuttered a bit in Riften for some reason though.

I have tried so hard to fill it's Vram with games and it's actually really difficult to do to the point it chugs.. Batman at 4K and 8xMSAA did it though, entire PC froze LMAO.

I decided to go all out with my ENB this time and optimize memory usage, and use all of my 580's GPU and capped it to 30FPS, run the game with a controller, runs smooth as butter, i still have a lot of visual mods behind the scenes just 2K textures and a lot of lighting mods.

 

Anything that destroys memory i have gotten rid of, leaking Vram over into system memory just makes the game use more system RAM up until it crashes because the game is limited to 4GB now.

 

 

 

GPU usage will drop to 60-85% in doors and stay at a pegged 99 outside unless it's a small area, this is pretty much what i wanted, i don't want my GPU under full usage 24/7.

I just got done running GTA IV maxed out at 1440p with the CryENB V3 mod... And I have to say... Not bad. The skybox is a little dumb (lack of clouds and such), and reflections are wonky, and sun flares leave some to be desired... But still. Damn. Can't wait to somehow get GTA V or Fallout 4 to put those to the test.

I went in thinking it was going to be a Mortal Kombat like game, where there is barely story and you don't get to walk around, but I am glad I was wrong. I really like it and I especially love that I can use my Bathook practically anywhere, and then glide whenever I want. I've spent about an hour just playing with that alone! haha I'm not very far into the game though. I probably should have gotten the first game, but I went googling and found that AC had Dick Grayson as a playable character, and "better" DLC for me. I'll get the rest later, since they are only about $3 on Kinguin usually.

I'm just going to drop these right here. (ouo) (BTW, ignore the 40FPS. When I take a screencap via FRAPS, it causes my FPS counter in steam to drop and the timing causes it to take the cap when it displays 40 every time, even though I'm really getting 60. I haven't quite figured out if I can fix it or not, but I'm too lazy to look into it.)
