Problems with new NVME drive

Hi all,

 

I recently installed a WD Black SN750 drive. It's seated in the M.2_1 slot of my Crosshair VII motherboard. I did a fresh install on Windows 10 and everything went well. I'm pretty much up and running at this point. My motherboard BIOS is up to date.

 

However, whenever my PC goes to sleep, it never wakes back up to my recent session. Instead, it reboots and tries to boot into my secondary SATA drive. When I go into the BIOS, the drive is completely undetected. The only way to boot back into my OS is to do a full power cycle of my PSU (switch it off an on again from the back).

 

Does anyone have a remedy for this?

Yes, the issue is that after it wakes from sleep it completely disappears from the boot priority list

Sleep and hibernation have caused me nothing but woes in the past. You boot up fast why not let it run normally and turn it off if you're not gonna use it for a while? I guess you could try to clear cmos and see if that helps...

Good talk guys...

 

So, I discovered this is only a problem confined to Windows sleep. When my comp goes to sleep, it can't wake because the system stops recognizing the NVME. 

 

I changed the settings from sleep to hibernate and the problem went away. It's just weird that this "upgrade" I did today killed a pretty basic function.

Well sleep always have been dodgy at best for me as I said even to the point where I've had to remove the power cord to turn computers back on. I currently have both sleep/hibernate completely disabled as I don't think it is needed with SSD. Sleep will still draw power and hibernate will use storage space and since my PC boots so fast I don't see the point.
