My friend can see some emojis in instagram

I have a new phone galaxy note 10 lite but she has an old one j5,so when i send her an emoji on insta it instead shows a rectangle with 2 lines. She has updated insta and her softwarw what else can she try

Get a newer phone or flash a custom rom with the emojis on the code
