DAW actively filtering

DotzHyper

Hello, so I was going to get an audio interface for my microphone, but I was also leaning towards a mixer because the sound goes through the mixer's filters before going into my game chat or my recording. So, I had this idea answered a few days ago partially, but there's like no tutorials on this which to me should be fairly common.
So, will i be able to use a daw as active filtering? the microphone will go through the compression and filters from the daw and then be put out? There aren't too many tutorials on daws that dont just talk about electric guitars lol

Thank you so much

A DAW is probably too resource hungry. Maybe Voicemeeter is helpful for you and I also heard about effect software. However, I neither know their names, nor have I ever tested them.

Edit: And a DAW isn't really intended for that task, so you'd most likely have a pretty bodgy solution in the first place.

What you need is a VST host, look up tutorials on using Reaper VST plugins in discord, that's what you want.

Sloth's the name, audio gear is the game

I rather meant too resource hungry for such a profane task. @The Flying Sloth is probably on the right path. A VST host is basically a programm that has an input and an output and is able to load VST plugins that use the I/O accordingly.

No, you just want the VST plugins downloadable separate from Reaper itself, then you use those plugins in a VSThost program that you use virtual audio cables to go in and out of.
