2nd Gen Ryzen recommended ram speed

Planning to get a ryzen 5 2600 to get me started in pc building and I was wondering if I could get a 3600 mhz 2x8GB kit for future proofing and run it at 3200 mhz.

Depends on what the imc and the Interconnect can handle. Technically anything over 2933 is not guaranteed though.

You can technically.

Consider a 1600 af (basically a lower binned 2600). Or a 3300x those will probably be cheaper and the 3300x will be better in most cases unless that workload is heavily multi threaded.

As you already said it is technically possible but it could not work sometimes. I can't even run my 2600 with ramspeeds above 2933 or it will crash no matter what i do. Its a matter of trial and error for those things.

Desktop: CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 @4,1 Ghz GPU: AMD Radeon 5700XT @2,2 Ghz RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB @2666 Mhz  MB: Asus ROG STRIX B450-E Storage: Western Digital SN750 500GB + Samsung 970 EVO 250GB + Seagate Barracuda Compute 1000GB Case: NZXT H500

Results: Cinebench R20 Multi-thread: 2800

Well yes I just said anything over 2933 is technically not guaranteed.

Just stick tl 3200mhz cl16, unless you have an exceptional deal on 3600mhz cl16 id just grab the cheaper kit as its relativly minor gains.

Grabbing a crucial ballistics kit if you want to overclock it in the future, as those kits are for the most part Rev E.
