Which lens to get? (two linked in body)

On a Crop body, Canon 1D Mark II N

I know the L glass has a reputation, and the loss of a stop (2.8 to 4) doesn't bother me. Both are about the same price (looking to spend around 800$ max) but if there are better options on eBay (USA only, please) I'm all ears.

Look for reach, hence the 70-200 with a fast aperture, but I"m open to other options.

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

I have the 70-200m L IS f4, and its a great lens. Very sharp, No real issues. Very little chromatic aberration. I haven't used the tamron lense, but have had great luck with all the L lenses I have used.

I looked up the IQ for both lenses here: https://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/ISO-12233-Sample-Crops.aspx?Lens=404&Camera=979&Sample=0&FLI=0&API=0&LensComp=833&CameraComp=0&FLIComp=0&APIComp=0

I'd say IQ is pretty much a wash between the two, so it would make sense to go with the Canon as you'd probably get better AF with a Canon lens on a Canon body. I also looked up the Tamron 70-200mm f/4, but the Canon looked sharper.

System Specs: Second-class potato, slightly mouldy
