I’m getting impatient waiting for the Ryzen 3 3300X and the b550 motherboard. I’m thinking about just getting a higher end b450 board, but I wouldn’t know which processor to get. So I have two questions: how bad of an idea would it be me to buy for the b450 and another processor instead? And if it’s not that bad of an idea, what processor (any brand) would not be too expensive (compared to the 3300x) but would have the same (or better performance)? I am located in the US. Thanks for any help in advance!

The 3300X is fine for gaming, but if you do video editing/multithreaded tasks then maybe the 1600AF, and a good board would be the tomahawk max. If you want a 6 core/ 12 thread processor that is better than the 1600AF, then like the other person suggested the 3600 is great.

Laptop: HP Spectre x360 13t, i7 8565u with 16 gigs, 512 gig  nvme ssd, UHD 620 4k
