Check task manager and see which components are at 100% while gaming.

If it's the RAM, get more RAM.

if it's the GPU, either overclock or upgrade.

if it's the CPU, upgrade.

What's "decent frames", what modern warfare, what settings, what resolution... real RAM usage during game, etc?

I get like 60 and random times it will go lower but never above.

Using msi afterburner to display it in the corner

The new Modern Warfare and all low settings and it seems RAM usage is through the roof, and I also forgot to mention the 1600MHz part of my RAM, so I'm 100% certain I need new RAM. and idk if ill be able to cause of this COVID-19 crap, idk if it will be able to get into Canada. I'll look into it. And I also dont have MSI afterburner cause I don't know how to use it.

is it only 1 stick of 8gb ram or 2x4? if only 1 stick, upgrading to 2 and running them in dual channel should make a big difference.

Its 2x4 but only at 1600MHz i'm just gonna buy 16gbs and see what happens.

make sure what you buy is compatible with your cpu and motherboard. if your current ram is 1600, sounds like your motherboard only supports DDR3, so you won't get it any faster than 1600 anyway.

have you tried restarting the system, I know it sounds dumb, but windows likes to slowly eat up ram, and restarting it will free up the ram it, and random applications take up

Well this happens daily, even with the game installed on a empty SSD and windows on a seperate SSD it still runs like complete crap.

1600 MHz and DDR4? Are you sure it's not 1600 MHz and DOUBLE data rate (so, real 3200 MHz)? Some programs shows half the RAM speed only

Anyway, yeah if everything is on lowest and it's 1080p, then getting max 60 fps seems like there is something wrong. If RAM is too high you could try getting 2*4GB more sticks with same timing and speed (check RAM model number)

Also, MSI Afterburner is really easy to install and use, there are lots of tutorials online, take a look at them, it's a great tool

Alright will do, thank you for your help. Really appreciate it.

it doesn't matter where it's installed, everything on your computer uses the same ram

Very true. It's just really weird cause Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege runs perfectly never going below 144fps, at high settings.

I'd recommend recording a gaming session with HardwareMonitor and see what your RAM, CPU, and GPU, usage are. I wouldn't be surprised if VRAM is the issue. And VRAM is one of those things where it isn't an issue until you hit the limit and performance steeply decreases.

what settings are you running it at, also rainbow is an older game that is quite easy to run now, it would make sense it would run better

The 6500 (assuming it's not paired with a Z-series motherboard) doesn't support memory speeds above 2133Mhz

Non-Z series boards don't support memory overclocking.

the 6500 supports DDR3L, so that's likely how it's running at 1600Mhz (800Mhz actual)
