Which type of USB connector is this?

Nikesta

Hey guys, I'm replacing a port on my friends power bank however I can't identify this socket. Need a captain.

Thanks. Wasn't sure who to ask.

If I'm not mistaken, this looks like a standard USB-A connector. Please correct me if I'm wrong, though.

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Laptop (Dell XPS 13):

Intel Core i7-1195G7 • Intel Iris Xe Graphics • 16GB LPDDR4x 4267MHz • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD • 13.4" OLED 3.5K InfinityEdge Display (3456x2160, 400nit, touch).

Got any questions about my system or peripherals? Feel free to tag me (@bellabichon) and I'll be happy to give you my two cents.

Yes I am aware, however there are many types of Connectors. Some you surface mount, Some are through hole. There is a difference in length. I've been looking for a while couldn't find anything.

Oh, I see. As far as I can tell, it looks like a surface-mount part. The data lines off the back would be parallel to the surface of the PCB. Are there cut-outs in the PCB where it could rest, such as in this image?

EDIT: I think I can basically confirm that this is a surface-mount part. A through-hole part like this one has data leads which stick out on the bottom.

Yep, looks like I was right. Just like in the first reference image I linked, the power/data leads are surface mount, while the pieces that hold it to the board are a sort of through-hole hybrid. It's a super common part, so any number of parts should work. Just made sure the part is labelled "SMD" (surface-mount device), and that the mounting 'legs' are at 90 degrees.

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Looks like a surface mount USB 2.0 female port with through hole mounting. Search Digikey, Mouser, or your local electronics parts vendor(s) and see if you can find something that works. It may just be better to buy a new power bank board from eBay to save the hassle.

This just needed a little piece of wire, not a full connector swap...

Yeah, they could've just run a jumper I guess. Replacing the whole connector is more reliable in the long run, though.

Yeah I have many powerbank personally. this belongs to my friend and I offered to repair it because I enjoy stuff like this.

and Maybe while I'm at it I'll learn something new.
