Mad Marc's Rig

MadMarc

Hey guys I thought I'd show you some pics of my gaming rig.

I've built it in summer 2011 and it was my first build. Although I've had it for almost 2 years I'm still very happy with it and it performs very well even when gaming on my new 27'' 2560x1440 Dell monitor.

Here are the specs:

CPU: 2500k @4.5GHz

GPU: Asus HD 6970 DCII

MB: Asus P8P67 Evo

RAM: Corsair Vengeance Blue 8GB

SSD: Corsair Force 3 120GB

HDD: WD Caviar Black 500GB

PSU: Seasonic X-660

CPU Cooler: Be Quiet Dark Rock Advanced

Case: Corsair 650D

Here some pics:

I modded my dvd drive with the 5.25'' bay cover, so that it cant be seen from the outside, also changed the fan in the top for two Noiseblocker PL-PS and I added a soundcard.

Like the hidden DVD drive. Nice stealth touch.

I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes.

Ha, a fellow compatriot :D

I think I know this rig from somewhere... Anyway, it is a very neat build.

The super uber neatfreak in me is wondering if that 24 pin to the M/B could

be convinced to come in from a horizontal angle, but that's just him being

really nitpicky. On the other hand, he is very pleased with that incredibly

tidy PSU area at the bottom. ;)

Thanks mate, yeah it coult be that both of our rig are also show at an UK based forum :)

I've actually done some slight changes to the cable management since I took these pics, and it look a bit better now but you're right about this 24pin cable

How do you insert a DVD?

via "Computer" in the startmenu and then eject disc, but I hardly ever use it anyways

This looks very good and clean. That seems to be true with many 650D builds, it's a great case :).

Me too, inside you get nowhere near the same amount of light, and I found that even pics taken with my 500D sometimes look very bad in low light.

Great build, I've been thinking of getting the Dark Rock Pro 2. How has the dark rock been so far. Mostly I like it because of the looks and it looks to be big enough ot perform well.

Current Build: Fractal Design Define R4 Black Pearl Windowed | i5-3570K | Asus GTX 660 Top @ 1200Mhz/6524Mhz | Asus P8-Z77V |

Corsair HX750 | WD Black 500 GB | Kingston HyperX Genesis 8 GB (2x4 GB)

Thank you, it's been great, it keeps my 2500k @ 4.5GHz at high 60's or low 70's under full load with the fan set up very quiet, the Dark Rock Pro should therefore also be a great cooler and perform even better

I didn't take any while I did the mod, here some pictures that you show how I've done it:

First you need to remove the plastic bezel from the drive:

Then I cut off the mounting clips from the aluminium cover plate:

After that you can use hot glue to glue it to the drive:

You can also try to glue a small piece of metal to the cover, so that it activates the small button (picture 1) when you press on it.

Finally you just need to make sure that it lines up with the other bay covers, some cases have multiple mounting hole to position the dvd drive
