Any way to get 144hz?

So the monitor I have requires a display port to run 144hz with an hdmi it only runs 120hz my computer only has hdmi and no display port is there any alternatives to get 144hz?

Only thing i can think of is lower resolution or lower chroma sampling.
The (older)HDMI connection just doesnt have the bandwidth to do both good resolution and good fps.

When i ask for more specs, don't expect me to know the answer!

Lowering the resolution is what comes to mind (HanZie said it already). It seems a little weird that your PC only has HDMI, does it have DVI Dual link? That can run 144hz.
