5700XT/RTX 2070 S

NotMrTaco

Hey, Im going to be purchasing a new computer soon, and noticed on a bunch of the reviews the 5700XT can keep up with the 2070 Super, as long as it's overclocked. With the aib coolers coming out soon, is it a good idea to wait on them, or should I buy the 2070 super?

If it helps I plan on buying a ryzen 7 3700x and a 1440p monitor

Personally I would wait, especially because the 5700 XT can be found for anywhere from $50-$100 less for comparable performance especially with the AiB cards.

why no dark mode?

The 2070 super has more raw horse power but while the 5700xt can close the gap pretty good, it's ~100$/€ cheaper while doing so. You can oc the 2070 super and widen the gap again. So it comes down to if you are willing to spend the extra $. The 5700xt definitely is the value king here.

My opinion: If you have the money and are willing to spend it get the 2070 super. If you want the best for your money and have a little extra for something else, better cooler, better case or what go with the 5700xt. You won’t miss out on a ton of fps just a little.

If you find any grammar or spelling errors please fill out entry permit A38, thanks.

the 5700xt is about 5-8% slower than the rtx 2070 super. less at 1080p more at 1440p and 4k.
The third party cards will cost more ofc a good one will probably be 50 more. making it around 50  cheaper than the rtx 2070 super. The third party cards wont beat the 2070 super. they will come close. till you oc the 2070 super as well.

The only thing that beats the rtx 2070 super. is a water cooled 5700xt power mod extreme OC. which costs more than a 2070 super making it useless to do such a mod. you may as well do the same with a 2070 super lol.

the 2070 super will give you more performance yes it does cost more but it does come with new tech and in my opinion better driver support and build quality. plus like i said new tech thus ray tracing. dlss is shite. but a 2070 super can do 1440p 60+ fps raytracing on high-ultra settings, so thats always nice :)

But this is ofc my opinion, i am going to buy a 2070 super myself. however, i highly recommend waiting till third party 5700xt cards have come out. even though they probably wont touch 2070 super performance they will still maybe be good enough to force nvidia to cut prices a bit.

Is the monitor G sync?  If so grab the super.  G sync is pretty awesome stuff and I would def take advantage of it if you have it.

If every dollar counts and you are on a tight budget, the xt is the better value card.

In terms of the super having a little more horsepower, better thermals, and an overall smoother experience (not to mention CUDA, NVENC, also RTX even though that shouldn't be a deal breaker on its own) I would spring for the super.  The overall package is better, but it's gonna cost ya a little more

El Zoido:  9900k + RTX 4090 / 32 gb 3600mHz RAM / z390 Aorus Master

The Box:  3900x + RTX 3080 /  32 gb 3000mHz RAM / B550 MSI mortar

It's a freesync monitor, but I'm not exactly sure what monitor I should be getting, so that's what I've gotten so far.
