Is the switch worth the money?

i found one on ebay with only around 5 mins left. I'd mostly use it for breath of the wild & smash. I have a $25 ebay coupon so i'm very tempted

You can play BoTW with emulators. It is pretty good.

But the rest of the titles really not my thing.

Don't think too much about the specs, buy it if you liked the games.

If you plan to buy it for BoTW, i'm sure you'll have a very great time.

The best Zelda ever, followed by ocarina of time.

i figure i'll play BoTW and if i don't love the switch by then i can resell it on ebay. I got a good price for it with the coupon so i should be at least able to get my money back

Yeah, why not, i originally plan this, buying switch just to play BoTW then sell it when i'm done.

Even if you sell it below market price, consider it as a rent price to play zelda.

If you have to ask: no, it's not worth the money. It's never worth to spend money on things you don't have confidence in. Also, Switch is getting a v2 in a few months or so, so there's even less point in buying one now.

Second gen is coming out soon. IMO a switch is the only console worth getting compared to a Xbox of PS4 as Nintendo exclusives are the best

Even as someone who wasn't expecting to use the Switch much in handheld, after getting it the system gets a ton of handheld use. I probably use it 60/40 handheld vs docked. Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey are definitely at their best docked but then you have a load of games that are just great handheld like Dead Cells, Monster Boy, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Pokemon Let's Go, Yoshi's Crafted World, old school arcade games like Double Dragon or the Sega Genesis collections or even old school shooters like Ikaruga. As wary as I was of the Switch due to the weak hardware, after having one for about 7 or 8 months I think Nintendo fucking hit it out of the park with the Switch. I thought it was a gimmick at first but really the only bad thing I can say about it is the price of games stays higher than PC, PS4, or XBox.

Mine is almost always used docked.  My kids dropped the Wii-U pad enough times I had to send it in to Nintendo to repair the touchscreen.  Not making that mistake with our Switch, haha.

All of the discussion around these new models is speculation, as far as I'm aware. There haven't been any leaks reliable enough to warrant any consumer action. In fact, IGN recently released a video calling this issue into question themselves. Nintendo could be preparing for a quiet release, given their track-record with the 3DS models. Still, I'd of expected, personally, to see some showing of the Switch during E3 or Nintendo Treehouse. If they are going to release a new Switch, it'd likely ship with the upcoming Pokemon games, right? So in that sense, it's possible. Right now we just don't know.

no lmfao, you can emulate BOTWon pc.  The only switch exclusives that are appealing to me are mario odyssey and tetris 99. I'd never buy a console for two games

I'm enjoying my switch. I can't take desktop emulators with me on trains and planes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

 

I like the seamless transition from mobile to a monitor, though I'll probably sell the system back on ebay before the switch 2 is announced (and then buy the 2nd gen switch)...

 

I probably won't profit from reselling it, but it's possible that i will. I got a really good deal on the switch. Either way, I don't mind losing a few bucks to play this system. I'm having a good time, let people enjoy things

 

edit: i haven't tried emulators in a few years, but they were always kind of janky in my experiences. I can afford to buy a switch just to play a few games, so why not?

It has a Micro SD card slot, USB Type C (and the dock gives it HDMI and 3 USB type A ports), and a headphone jack (obviously not counting cartridge slot).  It actually has par for the course IO for a home console (when docked) and above average for a handheld when playing in portable mode.

 

As to answer the main question, yeah, in my honest opinion the Switch is worth it.

Granted my experience will be different from others, people are into different things and such... but the Switch in a way "saved gaming" for me.  I was playing multiplayer games, but nothing else.  I'd start a new game and I'd lose interest.

 

Playing Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2, in a way, it helped me find the "magic" in a game that I've felt I lost.  I've gone back to my backlog, and I've finished so much in just this year alone.  I'm continuing to get new Nintendo exclusives that come out, and they still are fun to me.  I'm currently playing through Captain Toad and loving every second of it.

 

In fact I'd say that I use my Switch more than my PC now.  Hell, as I said with my backlog I've gone back, and beaten games I previously couldn't.  (My sig has a couple I just beat).  I recently beat Super Mario 3D world, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, New Super Mario Bros 2, and Kirby's Return to Dreamland in the span of a month.  Previous month I played through Astral Chain and loved every minute of it.

Currently focusing on my video game collection.

It doesn't matter what you play games on, just play good games you enjoy.
