Has Apple® been making configurations that all bottleneck performance....??

So after years of hell with apple, and almost .. hmm let me count ... 1 .. 2 ..3 ..4 ..5 ..6 ..7 ..8 ..9 ..10 ...11... no wait 12 repairs, and 3 replacements (given a brand new Mac in box) I have come to find the reason behind why all apples computers have such shity performance when it comes to anything GPU dependent; be it gaming, creating animation, or anything else in that magic box. It has to do with ... bottlenecks. if you ever bothered to look at apple pre-made configurations they boost a fast intel processor, mind it might be a year old, but then gives you a GPU that is to weak for the CPU the offer causing a serious blow to performance when needing that GPU power. 

 

If we were able to configure a Mac to be more balanced, in that the GPU and CPU work well together the benchmarks might look somewhat difference in light of performance, given that any base model will have a GPU that is to weak for the CPU. 

 

I would love Linus Tech to make a youtube video about this, really testing this out. it would be very interesting to see the results.

AMD GPU's just aren't that great. Just that Apple is not using Nvidia parts because 1) Nvidia restricts extensive vendor modifications 2) Past GPU failure

for gaming yes, but these are not for gaming

Apple designs its configs around thermal and power limitations. Apple doesn't make gaming machines and there is no real world workflow where you are actively hitting the CPU and GPU to 100%. (MacBooks would melt and throttle to hell if you did this).

 

Apple sees graphics as accelerators to their customers workflows, not the things that make or break those workflows. You don't need a 2080Ti to render 4K video, edit photos, or make a song in Logic. Those tasks are the main workflows that people do on Macs. 

 

As for the MacBook Pros, those are mostly thermally limited. The Radeon Pro 560X provides impressive performance for a 45W part and does the job well. You simply can't put anything better inside them except the more efficient Vega 20 at this time.

Blender Cycles rendering actually can utilize both cpu and gpu simultaneously to 100% for quite a long time (depending on complexity of your render)...

 

Granted a pretty niche example, but certainly a real world one.

The most GPU intensive thing I use my Mac for is Starcraft 2, so my i9 and 560X is a great combination. I haven’t tried it yet, just use my laptop for iWorks and Excel/Word atm. 

 

I buy a Mac simply because it’s the most robust and reliable laptop out there with a safety net of a great free 3 year warranty.
