Cheapest cpu/gpu for 1080p 60fps max settings?

What would be the best cpu/gpu that can max out all games at 1080p ultra max settings while getting at least 60fps and not being overkill and waste of money?

I don't care if its amd, nvidia or intel

Thats the thing about ULTRA settings and a GAME to GAME basis....

 

Nothing is a blanket answer as there are too many games that vary.....

Be more specific on how willing you are to be realistic with gaming expectations....?

Also provide some sort of budget or people here will for sure.....overshoot targets.

 

UltraMax goes into so many factors by itself due to so many games being wildly different in demands.

But then the titles not so demanding would see a waste of money performance wise...

 

What games do you play now,..?

What games do you PLAN on playing?
What other things besides gaming (but obviously within the tech environment) do you get into?

I would only be doing gaming on it, both competitive and AAAs and no video editing or anything else 

I shouldn't have to adjust any settings from ultra to high if fps drops below 60 as I plan using 60hz monitor 

I am building a new rig and not upgrading 

Is this one overkill

Hardware prices kinda suck for you. $1800 in the US would get you a 2070, more storage, and a 144hz monitor.

 

What you have is pretty good but for that range of system you should go for a 144hz or 120hz monitor at the least.

I'd cut costs: NB: I don't browsed through Indian prices, I just write according to my native country's prices.

For Gaming, generally Ryzen2600 has a better value to performance ratio.

From motherboard, MSI B450M Mortar, Tomahawk is very good, and much more cheaper than Gaming Pro Carbon (at least for us...)

Cheaper RAMS. Patriot Viper 2x8gb 3400 Mhz is so much cheaper here (roughly 40% cheaper than 3600mhz TridentZ)

Better PSU: Ie.: Corsair RMX, Bitfenix Whisper M...

does it matter in cable management if i get fully modular psu or should i get gold rated one

so u saying 2060 will get me 60 fps in all games but problem is it has rtx enabling which wont get me 60 fps

Then don't turn RT on. :) A semi-modular is fine IMHO.

You can pick m2 SSD if you'd like, ie.: Crucial P1 1tb or something from Western Digital (black, blue) or Samsung, Adata..

 

Those were just options. A 2060 is very fine choice for FHD. Will be futureproof for a few years to come.

I know the stock cooler of Ryzen2600x is kinda reasonable, but, Deepcool Gammaxx 400 offers better performance& better cooling and less noise for a very good price.

 

I'm kinda cheapojohnny, so I like to cut costs whenever it does not deter performance too significantly.

Well literally any setup that demands ALL games at MAX settings is a waste of money. You'd need a 2080 and a 9700k at LEAST. No I'm not kidding. There are games (namely Ghost Recon Wildlands, Metro Exodus and Assassins Creed Odyssey) that won't maintain 60fps at max detail on a 2070. Yeah.

 

So you're better off going with a mix of ultra and high settings to get basically the same visual quality with 30% better performance in which case a Ryzen 5 2600x and RTX 2060 would be a perfectly acceptable setup.

No, MSI Gaming Z is probably one of the BEST you can get, but the GB is much cheaper. If you don't plan to overclock your GPU, then GB is fine. Though when you want to squeeze out every performance possible (overclock frequency and memory) then Gaming Z definitely has the edge.

 

I wrote, that a semi-modular PSU is fine. Full modular only worth it IMHO, if you want to play around with coloured cables& aftermarket cables.

 

The case is a very subjective choice, personally I'm not into christmas lights and transparency, therefore, I always pick "boring" cases with meshy front&top.

 

TLDR:

-MSI Gaming Z is a top-tier card, whereas GB is a reasonable mid-ranger in terms of cooling and OC-ability.

-Either semimodular or modular PSU will be fine. Go for full modular if you want to customize cable colours.

-Pick the case to your liking, but never ignore factors like ventilation, airflow and easy cable management.

I think a 480/580 will probably do it, or get very damn close, as long as you have a decent CPU to pair it with. I think any of the Ryzen 5's and i5's should do it justice.

@sahildale I'd rather build a desktop station: easier to swap components& get upgrades later. Esp. on AM4 platform, which will support 3rd and 4th gen upcoming Ryzens as well.

With my build in my signature, I easily achieve 1080p60 max settings in most games that I play.

 

I see no reason to really go beyond a Ryzen 5 and an RTX 2060 / GTX 1660ti for this type of a build, especially when as @Vejnemojnen has been saying that if you tweak settings, you will get basically the same visual quality while easily maintaining that 60fps target.

Well for 1080p at 60hz, yeah. It's overkill.

That said, it's a nice computer!

You could go with a 2600 or 1600X or somesuch and put the savings toward a GPU upgrade.

 

I'd get a better PSU either way.

If ryzen 7 2700 is overkill I could then get ryzen 5 2600 and gtx 2070 so that in future i just have to upgrade my 1080p monitor to 1440 or 4k

Yeah, the prime units are great and to some extent the older focus and x series units are decent. But the M12II is very old. Don't judge by brand. Judge by the specific series and the reviews. An M12II should only be used nowadays for stuff like a 1650 or 1050ti with a ryzen 3 or intel i3 non-k, not for a 2060 and 2700x...
