(question about Network +) Netgear NMS300 Network Management System Application

I installed it on an Virtual Pc who I could delete it if neccary.

I am an IT Engeneer and worked for years but sadly I know just the Basic about Network Protocols.

The Netgear Server recognise my Switch and I could acceess them who is a security risk...

Its cool I can see many status thinks from the switch what kind of Protocol the use for that?
 

Can I manange multiple Netgear Switch with that?

Looks like it uses a combination of LLDP and SNMP to talk to the device and get port status and all sorts of information that the switch can provide. If you didn't setup SNMP credentials then it's probably just using the default SNMPv1 credentials of public/private to pull data from the device. LLDP is Link Layer Discover Protocol which basically will collect information about connected devices that support it. For example my computer has a 10Gb NIC which supports LLDP so I can see it as a neighboring device on my switch and some basic information about the connected device like IP address and basic info.

Now I need another 3x who should be config for a single point. My Budget is not big so I thought about Netgear. I know there Router are crap, the wifi are crap but the unmananget switch run here rock solid.

The first link looks like it just gives you base functionality and that's about it with some of the more advanced features like 802.1x, SNMP support, Guest VLANs, ACL support, broader management functionality like SSH, TACACS, auto VLAN assignment, etc. for the second and third categories. The two other categories support those advanced features and the difference between them is that the last one seems to be new products not yet on the market since they all seem to say "Coming Soon"

I will buy some Lancom AP the should support the Ascom Wifi Phone and for that I need some witch who will support the Security stuff I will implement.

The cost 3x the price of a Netgear.

I know it will be a pain in the but to configure all the Vlans.

I will have at least 1x for VoIP Phones, 1x for Guest, 1x for my Hardware, 1x my Parents and 1x for Guest

The must be acceptable via Wifi to. I am not sure which AP I order from Lancom the talk with ascom and see what is compatible and what not.
