Should I plug out my PC if I go on vacation?

Emil_Loenneberg SE

Okay so I build my desktop like 1 month ago and I have never had one before.

I am going on a vacation for 7 days should I plug out my PC and plug out my monitor completely or just leave it. My PC gear is usually always lightned up and I think my Graphics card and motherboard usually also have some light.

I usually just shut mine down if I'm gonna be gone for more than 2 days.

If it's plugged into a surge protector, I wouldn't worry too much about having to unplug everything completely, just a normal shutdown should be fine.

a desktop with rgb lights will use a lot of power. shut it down to save your electricity bill.

I unplug my stuff if I'm gone for more than a few days for peace of mind but don't bother shutting down when I'm gone all day at work which adds up to far more time than I'm gone on vacation so take that with a grain of salt. It's more about 'one less thing to worry about' for myself than it is for safety or power savings.

Still more than it'd use if you didn't have any. So technically, saying they "use a lot of power" isn't wrong. Because anything above 0 is a lot.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3700x / GPU: Asus Radeon RX 6750XT OC 12GB / RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB DDR4-3200
MOBO: MSI B450m Gaming Plus / NVME: Corsair MP510 240GB / Case: TT Core v21 / PSU: Seasonic 750W / OS: Win 10 Pro

Shut it down. It is better for the health of the pc, as it would save you some cost on that rgb electricity
