Graphics Card Upgrade

I’m trying to replace my aging 770 as it is barely holding on to medium settings with today’s titles at 1080p. I’m wondering what to move onto next and venture into 1440p with most titles. I also do a fair amount of rendering and unreal engine. I have a friend selling a maxwell titan x with a ek block for 300$ is that a good choice or am I up the wrong tree. Any suggestions?

 

Edit: my budget is around the sub 300  to 350 dollar mark and don’t want to spend much more.

Normally that would be a great card for $300....however with it having an ek block on it, to use that block you would have to build your own custom water cooling loop unless the guy still had the air cooler. 

 

I'd sat get a Vega 56 or an RX 580 8GB.

Well I’m planning on building a custom loop along with the upgrade and have ordered some parts already. And I also ordered a reference stock cooler for the titan for 10$. Is it worth going for the titan x then?

The rx580 seems more compelling than the 980ti which from what I’m seeing is still around the low 300s

Kepler titan (offically Titan) and Maxwell Titan (offically Titan X) are different in PCB and not compatible

 

Also the stock blower is quite disappointing, if you're already building a custom loop, stick to the waterblock.

Note that the RX 580 is still a slower card. It does come with free games, is cheaper and brand new though

Sorry I didn’t specify it’s the titan maxwell stock cooler and yeah I’ll probally stick to the custom loop. So would the maxwell titan x still hold up today or is it better to go for the 10 series as I’m trying to step up to 1440p.

The RX 580 is the easy fix pretty much, though sales aren't really happening atm. Can also find one for cheap on ebay as well.

I have the 1070, which is a little slower than the Maxwell Titan. I myself play demanding AAA games a lot (majorly pretty much) and it's a terrible 1440p 60fps card imo, to do that I need to drop settings and as a result lose most of the benefits of using a higher resolution in the first place. The only thing that's not lost is that I can use low levels of anti-aliasing, which is minor compared to the rest.

 

You're not getting faster cards for $300 though, the 1070ti, 1080, 2060, even AMD's Vega 56 and 64 are all usually around $350 to 450. That said these should be a no problem for 1440p 60fps high settings, so get those if you can.
