whats the difference between them? - one is gold plated and one is not.

Gold plated ends are a slight increase in corrosion resistance. Gold plated cable does nothing.

In terms of performance absolutely nothing.

 

The benefit of gold plating the tip of the cable (gold is often a worse conductor than the material being used for the rest of it which is why you don't have all gold cables) is that gold doesn't corrode the way other metals do. This means that in theory the gold plated cable will last longer.

 

Of course in real world use that will have next to zero benefit for an HDMI cable since you probably aren't dragging your HDMI cables through puddles and on top of that they're digital which means even if they do corrode a little it doesn't alter the quality of the output the way it does on an analog cable.
