MSI Z97 Gaming 5 fail update BIOS

Hello,

I have a MSI Z97 gaming 5 since 2015 and recently it has troubles for booting.

It took a random amount of time before showing the start screen (from 2 min to up 1 week ...).

While trying to debug the issue, I noticed that it was looping error codes on boot

So i tried to update the BIOS to the latest version; it was on version 1.0, and i tried to push v1.0c (not using MSI Live Update, but by selecting the latest bios from MSI website (https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/Z97-GAMING-5).

I extracted the BIOS to a USB stick and tried to boot on it, but it took 5 days to start, and at the time of the boot the usb stick wasn't anymore plugged on the computer.

The motherboard now only shows error code 00, never shows boot screen, and shutdown after 10 min :/

What can i do ?

I tried to remove the BIOS battery, clears the capacitors, and also short the JTAG1 slots but it stays on the error code 00.

Do you know any other procedure that i can try ?

Thanks in advance,

Nicolas

(and sorry for my English as I am a non native english speaker)

It sounds like the board is bricked, you have no option but to buy a new board I'm afraid.

And do you have any board to recommand to me ?

I am looking for a Z97 LGA 1150 motherboard, but i only saw either some used boards, or 200$+ boards :/

I also read that H85 LGA 1150 boards can also work, but with no overclocking.

I don't remember the exact specs of my processor, but it is an Intel i5 that i overclocked from 3.5 to 3.9Ghz

this is just an idea but maybe you buy a cheaper LGA 1150 board and save for a newer LGA1151 and get a whole new pc upgrade because the 4th gen and previous CPUs are getting slightly outdated, I am not saying that is defiantly true but its just my opinion
