koehler reacted to B NEGATIVE in [In Win 901] Celestial
Evening.
So,an update?
Due to the space constraints,I am using the EK 240 Predator kit coupled with the blocks I already have instead of the MX block included in the kit.
But.....because I could rather than have to....I have modded the Predator with a 18w DDC rather than the stock 6w unit.
If unboxings offend then....tough.
The defunct MX block,I may do something with this and do a give away.
A look at the control board for the whole unit.
Seems they use a once size fits all approach and used the same board with the 360 version.
Because the stock pump is a DDC 'clone',all the hardware is identical so,after swapping the wiring over to the new pump and an addition of a heatsink to make it all pretty, we have a 'AIO' with a 'proper' pump!
Not much of a work update as I have finally finished the mill and Im ready to cut the rest of the panel work.
Had some interesting problems with HSMWorks and Carbide3d GRBL but, after much swearing and comments on the parentage of the GRBL designer,I got it fixed. Now the neighbours can have a variation of noises other than a compressors and power tools.....
The weekend promises to be busy!

SO here are the final pictures (finally )! You have probably already seen them in the short movie clip above, but anyway a buildlog has to end with final picture photos (otherwise it isn't a buildlog ) I choose "Tron"blue for these pictures! Ofcourse it is RGB so you could use any colour you would like this particular one fits really well! And ofcourse Rinzler Orange/Red ! and of course switched off Hope you like the result ! -

koehler reacted to TheInfamousMrD in [Build Log] SCARLETT - A BitFenix Prodigy mini-ITX build log (in progress)
The coil while was totally unbearable, even when I put the side panel on & moved the case off the desk top... it was too much to live with. I tried using the PCP&P Silencer to power the system to see if a different PSU would alleviate the whine. It just got much worse. So that had to go back. RMA number 3.
Reading up on the 290X and coil whine, almost all the reference designs were susceptible to it. As such I opted for an ASUS R9 290X DirectCU II OC 4GB instead.
The difference was astonishing. The cooler which ASUS use is streets ahead of the reference design. Taking a look under the shroud they use totally different chokes. More importantly, no whine! The fans were also still pretty reasonable under load at a decent 65°C even with the side panel on.
After reinstalling the Spectre PRO as an exhaust rather than an intake, I reorganised the cables as best as I could and took some beauty shots.

Prologue
Maybe you remember the big project a 15 years old Lucas planned some years ago.
Too great visions and to much confidence about that future sponsors would come.
I really put myself in a bad position, which I have regret so many times
There I was, with one of the biggest cases I've ever seen, what was I supposed to do?
I have built some mid-sized systems, some smaller ones, and some even smaller. To be able to decide what fits me the most, why not try something extreme?
With an SMH10 from Caselabs, it can't go wrong. I can promise that not only will the looks be awesome, but also the power of it! During fall I will also host a modding-series at Nvidias youtube-channel which I am very hyped about!
The computer is called Green, which is a part of the project, although the project include a much more. I want to create my dream gaming-cave!
Below you can find the specs of the computer, and what I am supposed to do.
Hardware
Case: Caselabs SMH10, double window edition!
