Formhault got a reaction from don_svetlio in Just sold my Radeon 6870. Now... in search for a new GPU
Mhm.
Anyway, I found a Nitro variant of the R9 380 (4GB, Sapphire) for exactly 260 USD. I'm gonna try & get one tomorrow. Here's hoping my PSU won't blow up and the card won't scorch my CPU to death.
Thank you all for your recomendations!
EDIT : this one. Says both NITRO and LITE in the title. Also, OC. Lol. What?

Well, I'd love a higher end card, but I'd feel better knowing I got something that's got a better performance per dollar ratio. Prices in Romania are $#it...

I can live with that. Not paying 20% more $ for 10% more performance.

I think I'm good with the 380... I don't think I need that extra bit of performance. If I want it, I can OC it a bit in the future. But for now, the 380 would be more than I need for 1080p.

glad it worked out for you

Formhault got a reaction from mc141 in Event Viewer shows HAL error & PC resumes from sleep by itself
Thanks!
I tried "powercfg /lastwake" and something TeamViewer-related was listed there, so... that's what it is, I guess.
I'll try & see what I can do to solve the problem.

U could try....
In command prompt(admin mode)
Type powercfg /lastwake
Do this after it wakes
u could also try powercfg /energy. This will do a 60 second evaluation.
Its helped me sometimes with mynsleep issues.

That should be fine, I think.

55C for a motherboard especially if it's the VRM is pretty normal, I'd be worried if you going into the 70C with overclocking or power hungry CPU's.

if your worried about your mosfets even though those are fine temps. you could get a cooler that blows down on the mosfets, or you could put a little fan that blows on them(i don't recommend small fans). I woulden't worry about it, and not waste money on a new cooler.

Formhault reacted to Mixzzz in Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 (well, parts of it anyway) getting hot?
Dude... I normal for VRM to get hot since the CPU is pretty power hungry and 990FXA-UD3 is a pretty solid board... If you think theyre hotter than 55C, use an infrared termometer and add a fan above VRM heatsink if you want it cooler...

Formhault got a reaction from DudeWazap in When I put the PC to sleep, it sort of dies...
I got "Power on Keyboard" enabled ("any key") just so I can turn the computer on without getting out of my bed (say, I need it fully operational before I get back from the bathroom and can't wait 15 seconds lol).
But that's not it.
I went in Device Manager and changed the "Advanced" properties for the LAN driver. Disabled "Wake on Magic Packet" and "Wake on pattern match" and it seems to sleep like a baby now (I mean wake up as it should, lol). Hmm...

thats marketing with incompressible data

~400/200 looks about right to me.

What capacity is your SSD? Anandtech's review shows that on Desktop Iometer, the 120GB SSD gets 171.5MB/s when it comes to incompressible data.

Formhault reacted to SkilledRebuilds in Kingston SSDNow V300 <200 MB/s write after 6 TB lifetime writes?
A LOT of early SSD's used the fastest read and write speeds on their packaging, but the drives would only do that speed in certain situations.
Compressible vs incompressible data.................... had two different speeds read and write on these cheaper flash devices.

Formhault got a reaction from DudeWazap in When I put the PC to sleep, it sort of dies...
I've set that timer to never, because I use Simple Shutdown Timer to put the computer to sleep (or shut down). When I put it to sleep, it's because I'm setting a task to wake it up and run Winamp to wake me up at 9 AM or something, you know...
-
Formhault reacted to RedRound2 in When I put the PC to sleep, it sort of dies...
That's not sleep rather hibernate. I presume you click the power button to go to sleep
Sleep: Turns most of the system off, except the RAM for preserving whatever you were doing
Hibernate: Dumps everything that's on the RAM to the OS drive and basically shuts down

If it says "Resuming windows" That means that it goes into Hibernation mode. You can have it not do that if you don't want it to.

Formhault reacted to -rascal- in Everything works, but I don't see post messages on boot - Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3
From what I know, only specific boards will show those messages now.
The Gigabyte Z97 and H87 boards that I worked with no longer has that message...if I recall correctly.
Heck I don't think even my Gigabyte socket FM1 board has it (or I have it turned off).
My ASUS ROG has the option to go through RAM / CPU / HDD check on POST, but those messages don't show up. All I see are the corresponding LEDs on the motherboard blink.

It's okay they Hyperx fury isn't listed on my motherboard support list or my friends and it works fine.
