TJSidhu reacted to Captain_WD in Freenas 3x6TB WD Reds?
Hey TJSidhu, Less drives in an array should theoretically mean less mechanical units that can fail. More drives - larger chance of failure. On the other side, if you have more drives and can use two drives for redundancy instead of one that would be much safer than using only one (the RAIDZ2 option). Larger drives are generally faster compared to the ones with lower capacity due to data density so you should get faster speeds provided you use the same amount of data. It really depends on how much safety, number of drives and speed you are looking for. If using more drives or would like more speed (and your budget allows it) I could suggest checking out WD Red Pro: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=iKEJdf Captain_WD. -

It loses connection multiple times on each video for me. It's VERY annoying to watch videos on vessel.

TJSidhu reacted to Shaqo_Wyn in Fan Splitting for rads to fan controller? Would this Work?
Sorry bruh, forgot for a sec there that you're using a fan controller. However this is a fairly inexpensive solution to the problem. http://www.frozencpu.com/products/9116/cab-174/3_Pin_Female_Standard_Power_Connector_to_4_Pin_Female_Standard_Power_Connector.html?tl=g47c251s634
There's also this: http://www.amazon.com/Phobya-3-Pin-Connector-Adapter-Connection/dp/B004CLJ64Y/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=undefined&sr=8-4&keywords=3-pin+multiple+y+splitter+fan+cable

Definitely noiseblockers, the bitfenix spectre pros are no match for them.
The modmytoys splitter PCBs are going to be a lot more clean for cable routing and management.

Should work on a single channel. However I recommend you keep the same fan models on different channels due to different RPM ranges. You could go all NB PL-2's. ModMyToys has similar PCB's for 3-pin fans. Just get one of those.

TJSidhu got a reaction from aikoels in Gaming From the Living Room?
I use a 15M / 50 foot HDMI cable to watch movies and play games using a xbox control, i was playing portal 2 and grid 2 few hours ago.. it works fine no lag.
Try not to buy the cheapest cable out there or go crazy spending to much i spent 15.00 GBP / 25.00 USD from amazon mine works fine just don't go over 50foot as i have heard people start having problems.

TJSidhu reacted to Jodomcfrodo in Best blue tubing - non uv?
I have mayhems pastel red.You do not need a biocide with it.
Also some tubing has issues with it. My primochill primoflex ADVANCED LRT hasn't had an issue. You have to get the advanced though. Other versions of the primo chill tubing will cause issues.

TJSidhu reacted to Lays in Best blue tubing - non uv?
I think mayhem's dyes have biocide + anti corrosive built in, but go on their website and double check to make sure first.
I've had a decent experience with PrimoChilll Advanced LRT, it's like ~20$ for 10 feet where I live from frozenCPU, it'll probably be ~15-20 GPB for you for 3 meters.
I wouldn't worry about clouding etc, if it happens, it's really easy to replace the tubing & clean things out, only takes an hour tops and by the time you'll have to do it, it'll be like 6-12 months from now anyways.

TJSidhu reacted to squirrl in holding up PUMP + RESEVOIR with magnetic tape
I held my pump to the bottom of the case in place with magnetic pads, but they are stuck to the foam that the pump is mounted to. Strong magnets attached directly to the pump would likely interfere with the pump itself as well as the hard drives with both use moving electromagnetic parts.

TJSidhu reacted to Oshino Shinobu in holding up PUMP + RESEVOIR with magnetic tape
You would need some pretty strong magnets to hold it up securely. And having strong magnets on the side of a drive cage doesn't sound like a good idea.
You could try using something like EK's uni holder to mount the pump/res to the cage, or maybe a UN mount. You could also try and create something out of aluminium if you're feeling creative.

TJSidhu reacted to rjbarker in holding up PUMP + RESEVOIR with magnetic tape
Personally I wouldnt put magnets anywhere near my sensitive Electronic within my case....thats just my opinion....with that being said you'd be better off with Industrial Velcro....better yet...get out the drill and go to home depot and pick up some 6/32 machine bolts, rubber washers and nuts...mount it properly

TJSidhu reacted to Enderman in holding up PUMP + RESEVOIR with magnetic tape
Magnetic tape is not very strong, it will not hold it up. Use double sided foam tape, it is the best option because it will almost never come off, and it dampens vibration. If you want a less permanent option use velcro tape, which also will dampen the vibrations.
