peger got a reaction from SPARTAN VI in What? Phanteks ITX Rig is EVOLV'ing!
It looks like a good place to put a disk there. Maybe put SSD there.
It looks like something I got with mine r5 3600 .

You're scared? You would need a chart that goes back to the '40s to include me!

peger reacted to homeap5 in Moving Disks from One System to Another
You can move all your drives to new computer without problem. No format required, no actions required (except settings in BIOS to choose right bootable drive).
Your current NEW OS will work the same, your old OS will remain unused (you can boot it if you want though; is nice sometimes to have second OS in case something is wrong with your main OS).
Plug old drive to your computer is basically the same as plug pendrive to any computer - all data remains the same, nothing changed until you change it by your actions.
You can have ALL your drives connected and don't worry about anything including power consumption - HDD or SSD needs only few watts each. I have 4 HDDs and 2 SSDs and sometimes I connect another drive and everything works perfect.
Remember that your drive letters will be different in new system - your current "C" may be "E" or "F" etc.

peger reacted to Skiiwee29 in PC randomly restarts underload and I've replaced have the parts at this point
At this point, only thing left not really changed was the motherboard, since all the problems started after the motherboard swap. What I would do is pull the system out of the case, set it up on a cardboard box such as your motherboard box and boot and test it out. If it runs just fine like that, then your case has something that is causing a short on your motherboard. If it continues to do the same outside the case, then your motherboard could be defective and I would RMA it.

These arrived today.
Thank you @Drak3 for the advice to go with the fuel version, it seems to have been worth it.
Now, I just need to find some rusty nuts...

I finally bought a gas bottel and regulator for my mig.
And I tell you compared to flux core wire it's like day and night :).
And the cart I made.

There should be jumpers on the drives. Set one drive as master and other as slave .

Update 21
Cables holders.
Front.
Power cable
Top panel backlight.
10 blue LEDs and 2 UV.
Let there be light.
Window installed
Inside
Putting everything together was a real pain in the ass. PSU cables are quite stiff, heat shrink tubing are very long and I think they filled them with some glue. So bending the cables was practically impossible, and I didn't want to cut and redone everything. The hardest part was connecting cpu power.
I have a real mess under the tray.
I thought about using RGB stripes instead of blue Leds. Fortunately, i used leds. They give a very nice blue glow.
I need a new desk. For now it is still in "raw version" with leaves and roots ^^.
I still plan to use my old laptop. Mainly for porn^^, torrents, android emulator etc...

Whilst not exactly a tool, this is a fix I did with tools:
Here is a caravan door that needed it's door handle hole filled in:
Start by cutting out some shapes that fill the hole:
And here they are with some bars to support them:
Using pick through the hole to support the bar I hold it in place while I weld it:
Like this:
Whoops, the tacks are too big had to cutout some of the plate:
Weld her up using the transmig:
And grind them flat with a flap disc:
And of course the other side of the door:
All in all a few lines and dips but for an aluminium repair on an old van not too shaby.
Now I just need to straighten out that bent edge.

peger reacted to German_John in Permanent Skyrim menu sounds in Windows
It does!
Because I'm apparently an idiot. I put an old CPU heat sink on my table and my mouse cord dragged across it. It sounded so much like the menu sounds...
probably because it made that same sound when I was in the menu, because the cord was dragging then, too. Derp.

Smal Sunday update.
I installed leds in mobo tray.
And assembled everything.
Using screws and nuts to mount the motherboard was not a good move after all.

Update 19
Last night i finished installing 8.1 and right after I updated it to 10.
My workshop is always cold so i dried everything outside.
I added a small "handle". Just leftovers from cabinets.
And lock.
And latch for quick release to hold PSU filter in place.
Bottom and wheels
Power switch cable
And fans
Ghetto style
To be honest I'm a little disappointed how this light looks . I was expecting something idk ...more uniform.

peger reacted to msknight in Tool Thread!
OK - so we start off with my boring works tool bag...
The middle section contains some of the go-to items such as my Fluke network tester, my iFixit Pro toolkit, (this is the un-modified version... more on that later.) anti-static gloves, some electrical insulting tape and a nice invention called Sergeant Clip. I have enough clips to handle a stack of five 48 port switches in both single and dual clip modes. Working in IT, I got a little bit of a discount with a bulk order. ? ... you don't ask, you don't get.
One side contains the everyday assortment of screwdrivers, punch down tool, clips, snips, cage nut inserters/deinserters, knife, tape measure, etc.
The obligatory multimeter.
The other side contains the usual torx drivers for insertion/removal of rack mount servers, along with some alan keys and spudgers for good measure.
I did, at home, create the iFixit Behemoth Mk 2, and Brett Hartt, Product Development Lead at iFixit, decided to dare me to add some more layers...
...so I obliged him with the Mk 3... jump into this video at 17:26 to avoid my utter boring ramble about how the tools I've carried have changed through my techie life... (non-monetised video)

Hello everyone, hello Linus, this is my deskpc inspired by yours, I improved some things and also did to my liking. Enjoy, it took a long time to make and i want to improve it even more.
100% hand made
It is now necessary to upgrade the monitor to an ultrawide, and tidy up the cables too, which do not like confusion
