Then you are fine. Don't worry about trying to match the highest scores. I use 3dmark just as a general ballpark to make sure the hardware is working. As long as you are within a couple thousand points its OK. There is always going to be variance based on your specific hardware, your overclocking or lack of, your software that is running and even things like your Power Plan (High Performance is best)

If you had a score of 10000 or something then you know something is wrong.

    Hi everyone,

so today, what I thought was impossible happened, I got my Nvidia/ASUS 3090 Strix OC!

Out of all the cards, this one was the one I really wanted, because I’m looking to squeeze out every bit of performance from this.

I’ll be doing a full review later, with a accompanying video.

This will be around Monday/Tuesday time.

Until them, I wanted to ask if anyone had any requests for certain benchmarks/games, or any questions about the card.

I’m just really excited to get this installed & ready to go!

    Feel free to ask!

    My thoughts

As someone who has gone through 30-60-120-240 and now will go through 360Hz very soon, I’m glad that technology has progressed.

A lot of people will say that even 240Hz is “a limit” and that you “can’t tell a difference/much of a difference” between 144 & 240.

However, when I first tried 240 and went back to 144 due to TN just not being good enough, especially at 1080p, I did notice the difference.

I soon went back to 240Hz with the Lenovo Y27gq which is a 2nd Gen 8-bit TN panel at 1440p and 240Hz - this made a big difference to the colours and quality.

Now I’m really excited for 360Hz on a IPS panel!

I intent to pair this with the upcoming flagship Nvidia 3090 - or whatever the top tier card will be.

With the new cards, plus 1080p, I do expect to hit 360Hz in many MP games.

    Exciting times ahead!

A 2nd Gen 8-bit TN panel is actually very close to a standard sRGB IPS panel.

I highly doubt you’ve seen one, so I can’t think you understand my comparison.

Ive seen original Gen 1 TN panels and yes, they’re horrible.

I’ve seen every type of display,

    IPS, TN, VA, OLED.

    I know the differences.

Completely disagree with the rest of what you said.

Im sure 50% extra frames every SECOND will make a difference.

Any day. The difference between 60hz and 120hz is mind blowing but for a monitor 1440p to 4k is not much. Plus I guarantee you will enjoy the 120 hz smoothness.

Speaking from experiance when i built my 970Ti system several years ago i went from around 30 FPS to 60 in a huge rnage of games and i noticed an immediate improvement in how well i did in game. I couldn't see the difference visually, but it improved my actual game-play.

    @Kisai

    1. They've done tests, (including LTT itself), it actually matters to have refresh rates over 144hz in some games for some people. It varies with the individual and the game, but it's absolutely a benefit under some circumstances.

    2. The kind of games this monitor is aimed at can and do routinely put out the neccessery frame rates.
