About double nat - the only way is to use your asus as managable switch by plugging lan from isp router to asus lan1. You need some preparation first like setup static ip in ip range that your isp router use, but then you'll end with isp router with all its bad (probably) features and asus router as switch only with his own wifi, without active most of functions. So basically is not worh. You can use dmz in isp router though, so double nat will be not that annoying.

To install another version, more so when downgrading, you need to uninstall previous and install another. BitDefender is bit hard on some browsers, Firefox especially. That can cause issues with certificates and so on.
BitDefender is my choice, Kaspersky is another which has got some recommendations here in past year. Though with everything going on in the world, some people find difficult picking company from Russia (Kaspersky) while I get flack locally for picking company from Romania (BitDefender).
Personally I dislike their advertising style. Its rather aggressive, and to point of being spammy. Thats all I have as I don't really use VPN all the time. Only to watch IIHF WC with US casting from YT.
You are bit vague on what stuff you are looking for. So far its VPN and AV.
I have no idea what you mean with animoji. Are you looking for streaming or recording? What style of content?
TBH this would be best to post as its own thread in Networking. You get way better knowledge there from people who actually know things. Many users only read subforums they are interested about.

jampog got a reaction from Neenan in LTX 2019 Suggestions!
saw you had dreamhack as a partner!
so i thought, why can't normal people create their own dreamhack on their own homes. Maybe they do, but my dreams have not reached that for so I haven't googled it or came across a video about it. 5 man cheap dreamhack setup... i know you gain more views with the op pc like the 10k pc you just opened(didnt know prices can reach that high) but give us peasants something to dream and aim for. A five man setup that can be done in the living room, i would say kitchen cuz most of your videos are there but a living room would feel more real. wire management, internet speed, extention cords, monitors, pillows as seats, etc. whatever makes it work or tell us its not doable... dunno...
also regarding the suggestion of introducing your people to have segments... it seems your doing it already... one video though i didn't like is the amazon basics one... i don't want to see mr. sebastian out harrased by someone... does not feel right... i was more interested on why is he out annoying him than checking out what amazon is selling. And i was really interested to know about amazon basics. Sorry I am bad and lazy with names, but i think your old camera guy, the asian one (who is not that wacky one) can create good videos with you. As well as the new canadian one I think, i just saw a video with him giving inputs and he sounded good. I like their "aura." They look and sound pleasant to me

sorry for the late reply but ty for all your replies... really learned a lot...

so we boiled it down to two pia cuz i remember a video linus trashed a sponsor for selling out... forgot who... and nord for i agree with @KnightSirius regarding the location and most sites really have solid reviews of the vpn... both are less than 3$ right now as well if you opt for longterm...
now its up to wifey since she has a better "gut" feeling than me lol... thanks again! Hope everyone is still having an awesome holiday !!

Proton VPN is pretty good, its run by CERN (The people who smash particles together for science) and its free, supposedly doesn't collect logs and doesn't have a data cap

Only free vpn that works with netflix is zenmate (use romania server), if you are looking for further working vpns, check this research blog.
Netflix goes hard on vpn, make sure you pick the right one.

jampog reacted to Austin0x50 in VPN Question
Really you can realistically go with any high speed VPN you like if it's just for Netflix use, as long as it has a Canadian connection to use. Most VPN's you'll find have locations all over the world so as long as it has a high enough speed for Netflix to use you should be able to use any VPN out there. If you need a more narrowed search, look for VPN's for gaming use because they will have that higher speed you're looking for in streaming video with lower latency than other VPN's used purely for casual browsing and anonymity.
So VPN's you could look into are Nord, Vypr, IP Vanish. Hope this helped a bit!

+1 for Nord. There's this article which did a study with different VPNs and Netflix regions. Seems like nordvpn is a top pick for this matter.

Check out Goose VPN its a dutch VPN company that provides all the features of PIA, NordVPN, PureVPN and Express VPN combined in one VPN solution that can be installed on your router also!

Not worth paying for at all.
NordVPN or a free one would be the best options.

If it's just for Netflix and you're not worried about the protection of your data, I strongly recommend using a Chrome extension called Hola.
You just hit the extension, select the country, reload netflix, login, enjoy!
Most other free VPNs have data caps then they make you pay (big nono for Netflix) and they have really bad speed throttling which drops your Netflix stream to 480p or worse!
Hola doesn't have any caps (data, or speed that I've tested upto 250mbps), but at the cost of them being allowed to acquire as much user data as they want while it's enabled. Hence why I said "not afraid about protection of your data", I 1000% wouldn't be banking or using any other personal accounts on Hola. For that I'd use a trusted VPN like nord or PIA
Here's Hola

I'd personally recommend NordVPN, I've been using it for quite some time now and haven't had any issues.I'd definitely recommend it over PIA as they don't operate in the USA. If you want very detailed info on various VPN services I'd check out ThatOnePrivacySite.
As for the second part of your question, as @Martijn Klerks mentioned a VPN won't do anything to improve the speed of your current internet plan, you'll need to simply get a better plan (if one is available) through your ISP.

jampog reacted to Smeltie in VPN Question
something like nordvpn or tunnelbear should be just fine.
As for the crappy internet... a vpn will not really improve your internet, because you still have to connect to their servers first.

Thanks everyone!
My wife choose google wifi given all the reviews she read with promise of easy security and I can't argue with that. It seems they have good support as well. I am just actually just sad that i thought this time around we can have a usb connected to the router so we can share/watch/listen to stuff easily. O well.
Anyways, ty for letting me drool on all those routers. Maybe next time we can have an alien looking one :))

thanks for the products and the link!
for the norton i was really hyped about it but it has a subscription after a year so we won't be getting it. for the tenda, its at least 2 years old already and I am not familiar with the brand. We are actually looking at the dlink family you sent us
It seems amazon black friday ended lol... i thought it would start today :))

jampog got a reaction from Mr. Question Asker in Which company I should choose for Graphics Cards? AMD or Nvidia?
Not really that knowledgeable but with that budget, i would wait for rtx and see the pricing first. Then buy one if you can afford it since amd doesn’t have a new one yet. Or buy 1080s if its too expensive... dont know much amd gsync and sli do you have plans too?

Should work. I got some ram for my Asus X555YI and it worked like a charm. It was same specs just different chip. Different brand. It’s not recommended but SHOULD work.
