For just gaming an i5 would have been fine, you dont need an i7. And TBH it doesnt matter all that much between a 6600k and a 7600k. Get whichever one is easier to get and cheaper (though with that said if they are a few pounds apart get the 7600k for sure)

As for everything else... something along these line :3? Since you are going with 2nd hand parts too alot of these price should go down, but I have no idea what u can get for how much so this is just some suggestion base on your budget

I will also tell you this: these are probably way too overkill for whatever you want to do, and you probably need mouse, keyboard, monitor and speaker/headphone too, so you could drop the 1080Ti for a 1070 or smt, get a cheaper case and Ram. You shouldnt buy HDD and PSU secondhand, but everything else should be fine

Not sure how Vega's pricing will be, if you want to wait for it it's up to you, but I think you should have around $300 to spend on GPU, so I set a 1060 as place holder for now (it's also pretty good card for that price, with AMD card price hike due to bitcoin ATM)

Ryzen is a pretty good choice at the moment, there's no need to go with something like 5820k if you are just gaming. You can also look into some 2nd hand option (for me I got my 4790k on ebay for like $300 CAD if I remember correctly, or this one for $200 https://www.kijiji.ca/v-computer-components/gatineau/intel-core-i5-4690k/1282555557?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true ), since you also need a new motherboard it might be a good idea to look for someone selling a combo of those, or depend on your luck, CPU and then get a mobo on amazon or smt. Dont worry too much about overclock, it's nice to have and you'd probably do it once, and then just leave it like that all the time.

DDR3 is fine for now, it doesnt matter all that much for games anyway.

Megazero got a reaction from Fiercefruit in Is this build solid? and a couple questions
    1) is the psu good enough?
    Yes.
2)will that motherboard work well? i was between this one and the msi B350M Gaming pro
Yes. IMO if you have the option, dont go with a Micro ATX board and go with a ATX board like the B350. Apart from having more RAM slot should you plan to upgrade later, it also support Crossfire while the B350M dont. Also on that note, if you want to upgrade to 16GB RAM later on, I suggest just go with 1x8GB Ram instead of 2x4, but well... either way if you go with the B350 you have 4 Ram slot anyway, so it doesnt really matter all that much
    3)should i go for that gigabyte rx580 8gb or the Sapphire rx580 8gb pulse?
It's up to you. They are both respectable GPU manufacturer, depend on where you are the warranty policies may be better on one side or another though
4)maybe and incompatibilities i havent noticed?
Not really. Your system required arouind 350W to run, so a 450W give enough headroom already, but should you choose to go for crossfire later then you'd need a 600W PSU, but well... I wont recommend crossfire eitherway, so it's fine
5)and maybe if you think there is a better case around that money pls say so
Case is really depend on user taste so... You can just go to your local computer shop and find one if you want, as long as it support ATX mobo it should be ok

Megazero got a reaction from STRMfrmXMN in Will this build bottleneck?
While it will not bottleneck, it's way overkill to use that CPU cooler with that CPU. You will do just fine with any cheaper air cooler, since you cant overclock that CPU anyway.

Megazero got a reaction from ats1995 in Overclocking the MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X
So after a few week bugging the locale shop here every single day asking if they have it in stock, I finally able to get my hand on 1 today and escape the life of only using iGPU... So as any "real gamer" out there, the first thing I do after taking a bunch of picture, boast about it on Facebook to my friends and installed it into my computer... is to spend 2+ hours trying to OC and benchmark this thing.

So first thing first, the Gaming app. It have 3 mode: Gaming Mode, OC mode and the no-one-use-it mode. By default it set to Gaming Mode, and with all the controversy abt the different review bios and stuff, I decided to turn on the OC Mode right away before doing anything. It promted me to restart the computer (BTW the Gaming App stay in Japanese language because I set locale of my desktop to Japan to play Visual novel... kinda annoying) so I restart it... and it crashed upon reboot. After a while I found out that since I use the MSI Z87 G45 Gaming Mobo, somehow the OC mode of the Gaming App also affect the Mobo's OC Genie, and the weirder things is that it automatically ram my CPU to 40x - 4GHz. My poor i7 4770k can do at best 3.8GHz as I have tried before, so ofc with that auto 4GHz it crashed. And I cant figure out how to tune it down to 3.8 without disable the OC mode in the gaming app all together, so I just stop using the Gaming App. Gaming App also let u customize the LED on the card, but given that the card is already Red Black theme there isnt much sense changing the color to anything else.

On to the manual OCing (I say manual but GPU Boost 3.0 kick in automatically anyway right?) After a while I figure out my card's limit is around 130Mhz Core Clock with 650 Memory Clock (to be fair I still new to OCing so I dont really understand why do we have to OC the memory and how do it affect things) without messing with the voltage and only set the Power Limit to 126% and Temp Limit to 92 Degree Celsius. And here's the result using Heaven benchmark (since it's free :D) In this benchmark however I only run at +120MHz Core Clock since this will probably be where I left it to play normally.

It's a bit strange that the Heaven Benchmark say that the core clock of the 1070 is 2100Mhz, but the MSI Afterburner said that the core clock is stable at 2063MHz (it start at 2075Mhz but dip to 2063 right away and stay there till the end). The card run super cool at top 60 degree Celsius and average at around 55 degree, in the room with around 27-28 degree temperature. I try to set custom fan curve but it seem a bit weird so I just left to auto, and at ~ 60 degree the fans run at around 70% (I do feel like my custom, more aggressive fan curve do affect it, but I'm not sure). It didnt really make any audible noise sitting in my case.

So overall... not a bad experience. I do quite enjoy my current OC and I think with some additional voltage change I can bump it in to the magical 2.1Ghz number, but I'd rather let it run stable at this clock and temp. Feel free to tell me if I did something wrong and if needed I will post additional benchmark after fixing what I did wrong

SSD is quite cheap now, with some 480GB one go for as low as $120. I myself bought one for $150 CAD just a month ago on Amazon

It really isnt worth going with a H100i with just an i5, so going down to a 212 Evo (I have one ATM, super silent) and put that money somewhere else might be better. You dont necessary need an i7. BTW if you buy a H100i You need some aftermarket fan too, the default fan of that one is noisy, I have one before.

You need water cooler if you are going to the higher end of the OC field, for example running at +500mhz clock 24/7. If you just do some minor tweak/OC, a good CPU cooler like the 212 Evo is perfect.

CPU are not huge, CPU is tiny. The 212 Evo itself can actually be quite big, but most if not all mid size ATX or larger case should be able to handle it. Do note that if you have a very tall ram it could not fit under the 212 Evo, but Corsair vengeance should be fine.

I suggest you take everything to PcPartPicker, it will even help check compability of your stuff for you.

Why would you want a 980 in this day and age? And when we're talking about the newer 1070 and 1080, they dont support 3 ways or more SLI anymore, 2 is the top you can get.

If you dont plan on rending heavy video like every single day there's no point spending that much money on the i7 6850k, just get an 7700k and it would crush every single thing you do daily including gaming for 4-5 years without any problem. Get it with an Z270 Mobo with M2 support, most of them do now anyway

As I said before because 2 ways is the max you can get now, 1200W PSU make no sense whatsoever. You dont need that much power. for 2 ways SLI along with a 770k even a 650-700W PSU would do you just fine. Get a good rating PSU though.

You said you like The Punisher, ok. do you plan to mod your case with actual modding? I mean getting metal/wood and other material and actually cut it, glue it, welding them together? Or just simple sticker work fine for you? If so I'd suggest a H440 Case or something similar instead, those case have most of their surface flat, so you can easily go to a print shop that print on sticky paper and then cover your whole case in whatever theme you like. Would make it truly your own without too much effort isnt it?

Well... just remember that whatever CPU Cooler you use it must be small enough to not only fit in an ITX Case but to also dont take up all Fan slot cause you want the Hybrid GPU which come with it's own 120mm radiator/fan. For example should you mount it in the Nano S and you want to mount the GPU radiator up top the cooler must be something really small like those Linus show in his video recently, or you have to take out the fan on the front

If you dont trust those place to get Windows key how about ebay? review the seller info before u buy.

That's it for the Note 7 event. Well I did plan to buy it before. But since I happen to got a Vive... I wont be getting it anymore~ And IMO Note 4 is still the best Note they ever made to date.

I primarily used it for checking if I need to respond to a text/email and managing my music (particularly when driving. Much safer to swipe on your wrist than pick up your phone or look for a button on the radio). Other than that, I didn't use it for much other than checking the time. I haven't worn it much since I got a small collection of older watches in my late grandfather's will, so I've been wearing those instead. I find I mostly wear it when I know I'm going to be listening to music for a lot of the day.

Of those 3 "step", I only slightly agree with the 3rd one. most PC game recommend spec is still a few years old cards or 2-3 gens back. We(or atleast me) usually upgrade because it's fun, not because it's necessary

As for the 1st "step", no, you need a computer anyway to work, and I would argue to death with anyone who think tablets or smartphone alone is enough for those (at least in their current form), with the Surface being the closest thing that can bridge the gap between the 2. And that's not to mention those who actually work infront of one every single day.

As for "step" 2, again no, unless "around 1 hour asking in this forum" and "around 2 hours at best building it" is "unreasonable amount of time"

But yeah, I have a hardtime decided whether he is really dumb or writing this to "attract" viewer. But still, the site is call "Motherboard" for crying out loud
