DavidHawk62 got a reaction from Shortuse in 8GB RAM Upgrade on my laptop (Shits and giggles)
I wouldn't call it Frankenstein but I upgraded my old ass laptop from 1GB of RAM to 1.5 for like 5 bucks. Ultimately pretty pointless but what's done is done.

and you are entitled to your opinion. But blanket statements saying "all AMD is shit" is misinforming.
Also, getting an i5 in this price range is shooting yourself in the foot. An Core i3 or FX 6300 with a bigger GPU would be stronger in gaming then a i5 with a gimped GPU....
FX setup -> CPU can, depending on the game/program, be inbetween the i3 4160 and the i5 4460....

DavidHawk62 got a reaction from mXiyaan in Heat sync fell off
I'd probably just try and buy a replacement second hand or through Asus support if they wanna help out. Not sure how well any adhesive or glue would work given the heat that thing will have to endure, but I could be wrong and glue or something might actually work.

DavidHawk62 reacted to manikyath in GTX 970 Buying Advice
as an exclusive nvidia user. i back this.
i use nvidia for their drivers, because i got used to them, and i'm not too fond of change.
and for me, energy usage is a REALLY important thing, because the only way to regulate temperature in my room is window open and window closed.
and a less energy hogging card also means it's easier to cool them, allowing my computer to be more quiet. (which is another really important thing to me personally)

DavidHawk62 got a reaction from manikyath in GTX 970 Buying Advice
As a 970 owner, unless power consumption or and Nvidia feature like G-Sync or Shadow Play or what have you is super important to you a 390 would be my choice if i was buying right now. It performs better and has the full performance of all 4GB of it's VRAM.
If you really want the 970 (still a kick ass card) you may as well get it now, it's definitely been out for a while but don't expect bigger price drops for a while since the next series isn't out yet and there's probably not gonna be anything from Nvidia coming out in that section of their price bracket anytime soon.

DavidHawk62 reacted to Godlygamer23 in Why does the Apple Pencil need battery?
More specifically, it transmits data like how hard you're pushing down on the Pencil when you're drawing so it automatically creates the appropriately sized "tip" in the application. The Pencil has sensors inside. http://www.apple.com/apple-pencil/

DavidHawk62 reacted to Fictionvl in Buying a dual-monitor setup vs UltraWide
wtf kind of bs is that? 2 monitors don't use more power, games mostly run off of a single monitor unless its configured in the graphics card control panel, ultra wide means more pixels which means more gpu power to run off of 1 monitor
so unless he's going to play games on two monitors which is very unlikely because of the screen's bezel, he will need more juice,
ultra wide when it comes to gaming it will need more juice anyways unless you're running 1080p windowed.

DavidHawk62 got a reaction from cheeze_tartz in PC components in the heat?
CPU and RAM can both take quite a bit of heat before anything bad happens, SSD might pose an issue However, the CPU cooler makes sense since it's a giant thermal conductor so I doubt you'd see any problems from the rest.
