8GB RAM Upgrade on my laptop (Shits and giggles)

I got bored at 4am so i took apart my laptop and added another 8GB of RAM because I had spares.  The plus side of being the IT friend ahaha (They wont miss it, they're not very good with computers) Have any of you guys/girls done similar Frankenstein job on your laptop?

I wouldn't call it Frankenstein but I upgraded my old ass laptop from 1GB of RAM to 1.5 for like 5 bucks. Ultimately pretty pointless but what's done is done.

I've done the same with my current 15" MacBook Air bumping it from 4GB to 8GB RAM. Wouldn't call it Frankenstein-ing though since upgrading RAM is really common.

Yes... Except it wasn't anything to do with RAM and it was quite recent as well...

Old system was running a really old HDD plugged into SATA 2, The system is a small form factor as well. So what do I do? Just get a giant RAID card with SATA 3 ports and plug it into the side and then connect an SSD to it and now the side panel doesn't fit on anymore :)

EDIT: But it boots! FAST! AND WAS WORTH IT!

Wow this was old as heck, Need to update this signature!

So... you took an 8GB stick of ram from your friends and justify it because "you're the IT guy"??

How kind of you!

Yeah, I can't see how someone could "not miss" 8GB of RAM... I'm going to frame this as plainly as it is...admitted theft.

But to answer your question, when I was in high school I would gather up PCs people left at the end of their driveway during spring cleanup, and make the best one I could. Sold quite a few of those...

I swapped the I3 3110m to a I7 3760qm in my previous laptop. It used the G2 socket so this was pretty simple :P

Also put in a better cooling fan, a 256GB 850 evo SSD and another 4GB of RAM in the process.
