Computer turning on but motherboard not posting

rambi36

So I recently swapped my Gigabyte Z87X UD3H based-system case from a Define R4 to a Corsair Air 540. I powered it on without the side panels and just my main monitor and it booted right into my os with no issues. I then put the side panels on and situated it where I wanted to be and plugged all my peripherals in and powered it on. All the fans were spinning but nothing was being displayed. My motherboard connector is plugged in properly so I don't see why this should happen.

Right when I turn it on, the debug LED reads 15.

Any ideas?

Check the Manual, Error Code 15 should be there, and it should tell you what it means.

clear cmos, thats the first thing i would try. Also, if the mb has multibios, switch to another bios.

Case: Phanteks Evolve X with ITX mount  cpu: Ryzen 3900X 4.35ghz all cores Motherboard: MSI X570 Unify gpu: EVGA 1070 SC  psu: Phanteks revolt x 1200W Memory: 64GB Kingston Hyper X oc'd to 3600mhz ssd: Sabrent Rocket 4.0 1TB ITX System CPU: 4670k  Motherboard: some cheap asus h87 Ram: 16gb corsair vengeance 1600mhz

Error 15 simply means the memory was not there.
where it was expected to be when initialization checked the first two slots the memory should of been placed into.

After that it will check the next bank or row.

It has to address in the right order of slots to set the memory mode. Based on the set order of checking the memory slots. And why the memory in config has to be populated by the right slots.

Unplug the machine. Then reseat the memory modules and see if it boots up.

Did not work

I would unplug all the memory and insert one stick and see if it loads up.

Tried it this did not work either. The final code it is at during this whole thing is 64, which involves initializing usb devices iirc

Sounds like the board flaked out. I would try and reset the bios but I don't think that will fix it.

You could reinsert the video card and any other pci related devices and see if it does anything.

Does it turn back on if you remove the side panel again?

Maybe the panel put pressure on something it shouldn't have.

True. Pressure pushing something is possible. Side panels aren't always properly insulated to prevent grounding.

Ya I haven't looked at the case he has, but my H440 squeezes the crap out of the cables on the backside panel.

Unplug everything from the back except for your monitor. Take out your ram. Try to run it.
