Yeah, it worked perfectly! Here are some pics I managed to take.
My phone camera has a serious focus problem, but there are couple good ones too. And I didn't take a before picture of my temps, but they were around 85 to 90 under full load, aroud 70 rendering a video, 29 to 31 on idle (ambient temps 23C) All the temps in celsius, don't get confused.
Big thanks for everyone who helped me do this! You're awesome at making me void a warranty
Alright, the Liquid Ultra arrived. Now it's just a matter of doing it. I got a vice, hammer piece of wood, that needs a bit of smoothing, and some silicone and the TIM. And some AS5 left for the IHS. I'll propably set everyting up and fire up my laptop for uploading photos as I make progress during the weekend. About to possibly destroy a 300€ chip. Scared and confident at the same time.
There are little copper connectors on the chip, don't hit on that side. Make sure you use some sort of insulating or masking tape on the vice to prevent scratching the IHS. Don't force the vice too tightly or you might cause curvature in the IHS, which you have to fix with lapping. Make sure the direction you're hitting at, and the surface around the vice, is padded with towels so it wont hit the wall or floor.
Don't try to whack it off with 1 hit. Just keep tapping and the seal will eventually break without it flying through the room.
And for god sakes, use Liquid Pro/Ultra between the IHS and die or it's absolutely not worth it. (just make sure you put some latex over the SMD parts to prevent shorting).
Liquid Pro/Ultra only hardens when you sandwich it between metal parts, so don't use it on the heatsink/ihs connection!
Also, if you're really scared about doing it to your 300something usd CPU. Buy the cheapest fucking haswell celeron available (G1820) and delid that for practice
Ok so I removed two stix and the OC works now and this is my memory. Everything was set back to stock except I increased the bus to 210 and it changed accordingly. I'll now try to insert the other sticks one by one and see what happens.
did you set the RAM DIMM voltage up to 1.65v? default is 1.50v.
just setting default frequency to 2400 and not accompanying voltage will crash
the system. enter all RAM specs manually, frequency, timings and voltage.
DDR3 2400 (PC3 19200)
Timing 10-12-12-31
Voltage 1.65V
Invest in some locks to your doors...at your expense and keep the keys to yourself,. Put your machine in there & keep that puppy safe from those fiends!
Room mates I've had in the past, tell ya what... stupid people..... Had to put locks on EVERYTHING, cos I was away at work and come home to find my shit missing or moved.
Be Hard on them, it's YOUR property.
You do know the Sys/Network admin can monitor all things... right?
He can see what net traffic there is and also do doubt view and take control of your machine at his will.
Although I doubt that happens often either.
So.... just stay home and play. Or take a laptop to school.

This is by no means a comprehensive list, but rather free games I enjoy or look fun. I purposely left out most MMOs and flash games and wrote this in no particular order.
Let me know if I’ve made any mistakes in spelling, links, or information. I’d also love to update this list with any games you recommend.
Finally, some of these games require other free software, like DOSBox to play. It should be clear on each game’s website if this is necessary. If not, let me know and I’ll put it in the list.

Oh so 2x 280x is the plan or Single 280x + Console of choice.
Comes down to Exclusives + What friends are playing...... wouldn't it.?
If your mates are all on console, and your not, I'd prob go with that myself (knowing the 280x is still beast with 2xAA or less set in games past present and future)
If their all MustardRace PC users then yeah, another 280x will have you BLEED fps, meaning 100fps or more is great, but wasted potential if not using higher resolutions like 1440p+ or 120Hz.
Right, and that is what I want to see. Crysis3 can also be played online.
Both BF4 and C3 are incredibly CPU intensive, so until he runs those tests in an online setting it means nothing to me. Also, he needed to incorporate more action into that video, there was barely any action, and hardly any stress being applied to the CPU, as far as I'm concerned, the guy wasted his time doing an inherently flawed test. His head is in the right place and I'm sure he means well, but it doesn't prove anything.
