8400 is better im not denying it but he can save way more going with the APU and getting extremely similar fps and a higher storage SSD or a m.2 and HDD if he wanted to.

Threadripper probably wouldn't be your best bang for buck option.

Dreaper reacted to W-L in Final Checks For Watercooled $6K AUD PC
XSPC makes some good stuff the rads aren’t bad if you want them to be white. I believe hardware labs also have a white versions of their rads and they’re pretty top notch.

For the watercooling components why are you running two pumps, you would be better off with a single D5 pump for the whole loop. Also for hardline fittings you need two per components so 10 in total not including the adapters for the drain valve.

For Corsair’s LL fans you would need to run 6 fans on one RGB hub and then a single one individually on it’s own, the lighting node pro has two channels for you to connect the hubs.

Welcome to the Brand New Update for the Modding FAQ Post
This has been quite the work giving the FAQ a new look from the old text based version and I hope everyone here enjoys it and find it useful. The old version however is not gone, for anyone who still wants to view it with the same up to date info I will leave a link to it HERE.

This thread will go over some of the most common mods, contain information on sleeving, painting components, templates, modding, and more with detailed instructions for all the mods.

If there is anything you want to see added, or contribute let me know by either posting below or messaging me I'm always open to new ideas.

Dreaper reacted to MVPernula in G-sync vs IPS?
If you're not finding yourself getting annoyed with screen tearing (which actually is less noticable att higher framerate imo) then IPS might just be worth it over G-Sync. If it's for purely gaming I would still take the TN + G-Sync though, but it's basically personal preference.

If you're into editing, photography or just CRAVE them sweet colors then IPS it is, but I would still rather have a smother gaming experience than somewhat better coloraccuracy

But again; Basically all about personal preference.

Dreaper reacted to For Science! in Primochill Vue
These are some of the known problems with the VUE. I have not tried it myself.

    - 24/7 systems are bad
    - If you've used Mayhems Pastel before you're likely to have issues
    - Even brand new systems require sysprep
    - if you've any other coolant (including just water) then you need to use system reboot
    - in either case you need to drain and dry the system very well before putting in the VUE
    - If your pump is too fast, it'll wreck the VUE
    - if your loop is too cold it will also wreck the VUE.
-Lifetime of 4-6 months, and settling out of the particles is now an official feature.
    - Most likely either corrosive or abrasive. Jayztwocents called it "cleaning" but taking layers off the blocks is a worrying sign for me.

Given the above j would say it's not a desirable daily driver and certainly not for anyone who is not prepared to risk clogging their entire loop.

While it' been hyped as an easy solution that even beginners can use, I think it is the exact opposite. Use at your own risk.

can you be a bit more specific? Bitfenix has made quite a lot Mid-tower cases.

anyway, that cooler uses a 120mm radiator, so it should fit practically any case that fits 120mm fans. i would suggest you look into getting a big tower air cooler over this tough, as the performance would likely be better.

Dreaper reacted to CableMod in CableMods Gone Horribly Wrong
@Revan654 can you shoot me a message on who it is that purchased these cables? I would like to get in contact with them and resolve the matter of course. We sell a lot of cables and our RMA rate is very low, but we are still very proactive about fixing any issues that arise. It is unfortunate that we do have mistakes, but again we do take care of them. I do see this is the PSU end so the crossing cables is for the manufacturing pinouts of course, but do you have any feedback you would give for improvements? We of course always listen to feedback and try to improve.
