    wireless charging is horrible, it's very inefficient (so wastes loads of power, super bad for the planet) and it heats up your battery a lot so you'll kill your battery sooner too. just fyi, stay the hell away from it just plug your device in...

    perhaps, but I wouldn't like that either. I don't mind bezels at all... I don't like the screen being right against the bottom of the machine or the corners...

    so... 14 inch MacBook Pro is rumoured apparently. I'm sad that small laptops are going away now too. 13" to me is the perfect screen size for portability..

      perhaps, but I wouldn't like that either. I don't mind bezels at all... I don't like the screen being right against the bottom of the machine or the corners...

      I thought this was dismissed because the extended area needed for a 14" screen made it too similar in size to the 16" model.

    yea my dad tried to drive to me but a piece of road that usually takes like 2 to 3 minutes took him 15 minutes, then he just turned around because my house is 30 minutes away in normal conditions. it would have taken him hours to drive to me.

    due to snowfall i couldn't go visit my parents today,was just too unsafe for my dad to pick me up in the car, so that sucked, but on the + side we figured something out. my parents were gonna play a board game and i texted like it sucks that i can't be there, and my mom was like why don't we video call? 

     

    so what they ended up doing was putting their ipad facing the board game and i was able to play along with them on facetime 🤣

    i actually loved windows 8, you could completely avoid the metro crap if you wanted to, like all your settings were still in the old control panel etc, you could still use the old windows update options... it was wonderful in my opinion.

    what? it has 2 places for settings, a software store with basically no apps in it, live tiles confuse the hell out of people who haven't used them before, it updates without asking... how do i know all that is a problem? well, my grandma has a windows laptop and she really should have just got a macbook.

    it's just more intuitive. linux has been catching up, but it's not the same yet. especially with cryptic error messages. for example on Ubuntu fi you are installing a snap app from the software center sometimes it glitches and gives you an error even though the app is installing, that kind of thing can be very annoying to a normal user who isn't a linux terminal expert. the guides for doing stuff online don't help, almost all of them use terminal commands which are very unfriendly to new users. like, an example of what i'm talking about: the stuff that pops up when you google makes a big difference if you are new to linux. like, if you don't know how the built in software works and you just google how to install something this is what pops up, even though there is also a gui method on linux. if you don't know, you can't enjoy those things either. this is why macOS still has the "noob OS for babies who don't know how a computer works" reputation, even though most stuff is just as simple on Linux these days.

    i get i'm running a beta browser, but i thought i'd bring this to attention jsut in case it has to do with some change in chrome, which could brick it for everyone when this chrome version is published to everyone. once again, i know i'm running beta software!!! Browser, version and OS: Chrome Version 90.0.4408.0 (Official Build) dev (64-bit) Manjaro Linux Testing Branch Screenshots of the issue, if applicable: Any other relevant details: nope, jsut not displaying correctly.

    interesting. i had an internship at a place that had a pile of those 2011 iMac's and a third of them had gpu issues...

    that's only half a year though.. i plan to use this computer until i can't anymore. like, until my apps stop working on it or it goes up in smoke.

    i never attempted a reflow. my understanding of it was that even if a reflow worked it would eventually fail again, so i was just like well whatever, i'll jsut do the resistor thing and disable it for good.
