This is also correct, but price does not equal quality.

Things that other comments may not have suggested yet:

Make sure that the Windows display settings show a refresh rate of more than 60 Hz. I had a Windows update or something change my ~165 Hz setting to 60 Hz. If you can completely rule out a refresh rate cap: Before you scrap your CPU or build, please run benchmarks that monitor CPU usage (MSI afterburner, some game benchmarks like the Tomb Raiders). If it is pegged near 100% at your highest FPS and you aren't happy with that FPS, then sure that's a CPU bottleneck. If its not pegged at 100%, then you may have to check per core utilization, because various games may rely more on a single thread or core, which could cause only 1-2 cores or threads to get pegged. You need your own data or data from somewhere that proves that your CPU is in fact a bottleneck before scrapping your build.

Both of the Asetek AIOs (90% of AIOs from the likes of Corsair, NZXT, etc. just rebrand this style of AIO) I've owned have got failing pumps after about 5 years with proper bubble maintenance. They still *technically* work after 6-7 years since new, but they both rattle like crazy and practically speaking are unusable. Just because an AIO is high end doesn't mean that it's gonna last.

    Define long-term use.
I had a Kraken x60 for around 7 years that ran with no issues, and still works today. The obvious concern are leaks, which are rare on a high-quality AIO.

They're the things that say "LR15" on them.

This shouldn't be caused by coil whine, it's just an acoustic issue. That is likely something wrong with something else in the system. The sleep issue is probably just sleep being buggy, it usually is, though not sure about the NVMe problem.

It's kind of a tough line to draw. Ultimately, they have to make stuff that caters to the algorithm because that's how they get clicks and views.

That's why my comment was aimed more at the algorithms than LTT themselves. I believe Linus himself has gone on record saying essentially that he wouldn't prefer to make titles and thumbnails the way they do, but it works for the algorithm so that's what they do.

PNY is the only company that makes Quadro cards, so they have some presence in the market. They tend to know what they're doing.

They're the exclusive manufacturer of Quadro GPUs (or whatever name Nvidia rebranded them as), so I'd say pretty good. I wouldn't say their cards are the best you can find, but they're certainly not the worst. I'd be fine getting that card.

Crunchy Dragon got a reaction from Coaxialgamer in Intel, and amd discontinuation of production on old cpus?
Typically anything older than 2 generations, I go used market. Especially for HEDT hardware, you basically can't find it new.

Crunchy Dragon reacted to Coaxialgamer in Intel, and amd discontinuation of production on old cpus?
Neither Intel nor AMD typically produce older CPUs for much longer after a new generation comes out. If the new products do well you get a large dropoff in demand for the older chips anyway, so previous-gen parts often come from existing stock and aren't actively produced months or years after being replaced.

Intel doesn't make new LGA2066 parts anymore. You can either try to find new old stock for whatever parts you want, but older chips like this will probably cost you MSRP, which is a ripoff at this point. A better option is to go used, and you'll find many parts from that gen for sale for a fraction of the price.

Crunchy Dragon got a reaction from SorryBella in Intel, and amd discontinuation of production on old cpus?
Threadripper essentially did its job too well, and AMD thought they could sell the same CPUs for a higher price with "Pro" tacked on to make more money.

That's really the issue. Skylake-X wasn't good enough to compete well against Threadripper, and that was the end of Intel HEDT until now.

Crunchy Dragon got a reaction from SorryBella in Intel, and amd discontinuation of production on old cpus?
I'd blame Threadripper Pro and AMD more than anything else, but yeah.

The main advantages HEDT platforms have over high end consumer CPUs are PCIe lanes and memory channels. Plenty of people around who would still take quad channel DDR4 over dual channel DDR5.

You don't really need a heatsink.

My NVME without heatsink is located above my 3080, it's doing fine.

Not to mention that badly designed heatsink can actually make the nvme run hotter since it traps heat.

If you are abusing your NVME that much that it runs seriously hot all the time, then I suggest getting a better passive heatsink instead, or one with an actual fan on it.
