sharknado34 got a reaction from Veisenberg in Console killer pcs still possible in 2022?
I own the PS5, xbox series S, xbox series X and PC with an r9 3900x with 32 gb of ram and a rtx 3080 ti.
Honestly it's pretty overkill for me to own all of these, but I really wanted to play exclusives that I've never had the chance to play before.
I would say Xbox currently has the following going for it:
Game pass
Backwards compatibility
Quick resume
Auto HDR
Fps boost
Xbox play anywhere
Ps5 has:
Solid exclusive games
Solid ps4 backwards compatibility
Interesting controller
Some upgrades to random ps4 titles (Not always super clear to the user)
More polished UX/navigation
PC has:
Massive catalogue of games (and plenty of pc exclusives that have never hit console)
Endless Customization/support for almost any setup
Plenty of emulators
Endless in game tweaking
Ability to upgrade individual components at a time
No monthly subscription for basic multiplayer access (adds up quickly)
Honestly it really comes down to what you want. If you like xbox's or PlayStation's exclusives you will be happy with one of those two. That said most console exclusive games are coming to PC now as it is a massive market.
By far my favorite part of Xbox is quick resume. It lets you swap games super easy and is great for a busy person. PlayStation kinda feels like the apple of gaming, very asthetic, but chunks of stuff at a price premium.
I would say that PC is probably the cheapest option in the long run though, because there are so many sales all the time and endless sites to buy steam games for dirt cheap. PC can be upgraded pretty easily if you don't like performance. If you get really good at buying and selling components at the right time you can pick up some pretty sweet deals for upgrades too. You also save around $200 ($15 * 12) a year by not paying for a subscription (gotta have Xbox live or ps now to play fps games or sometimes even have cloud saves)

We told you we’d do it, and here it is! Testing a whackload of HDMI 2.1 and 2.0 cables to find out if you’ve been wasting your money on cables for no good reason.
Data from tests is attached to this post. If you are an educator or otherwise have a legitimate reason for wanting to look at the .json files from each test I will provide them, but shoot me a DM. For most people the PDF results will be more than enough.

Okay I fixed it by resetting the ryzen master software back to default. Kinda strange, but might be something worth looking at if you end up with the same problem as me

As far as I can tell it pretty much is plug and play. The technical specs are what I didn't really know on...

I wonder if it is time for an entity like the Post Office for email communication? In its day, the post was important enough that its the only business actually in the US Constitution. The rest of it is rules about what the government can, and mostly cannot do, and by the way, establish a post office. Yet now, the vast majored of what people did by mail is now done by email instead.
My general inclination is less government is better, but this might be one of the exceptions.

This is really something that needed to be regulated. A email provider shouldn't be allowed to simply wipe your stuff and if they do they should be liable to compensate the damage that they have done.
They only do this because it's not regulated currently besides "a provider can do whatever they want" which gives them way too much power.
Same goes for online services like Steam, PSN, etc. You "bought" it they shouldn't be allowed to take it away for whatever reason they seem fit (which is the current defacto regularies though)
I really don't get why there aren't more stringent rules for these things, it's like the people responsible "just don't get the internet" in which case I have to wonder why they're responsible to begin with. @.@

What? This is a REALLY BIG DEAL. Just for starters this could mean that: you could loose some of your accounts (because your email no longer exists), your stuff on Google Drive, all your emails, purchase history, important documents, and even loose records from other websites (because you used your google account to create an account for that website), etc. It is difficult to determine if this is an issue that is being fixed, but in the meantime I am creating a throwaway google account, setting up 2 factor authentication where I can and getting backups of records that I haven't gotten already. -

sharknado34 got a reaction from kirashi in Youtube Banning Google Accounts for Using Emotes
PLEASE BE REALLY CAREFUL WHEN POSTING STUFF ON YOUTUBE, even really simple stuff like emotes. It has been getting people's GOOGLE ACCOUNTS banned, with Google refusing to unban accounts (at least as of now). This is a REALLY BIG DEAL. Just for starters this could mean that: you could loose your steam account, your stuff on Google Drive, all your emails/purchase history/important documents, and even loose records from other websites (because you used your google account to create an account for that website), etc. It is difficult to determine if this is an issue that is being fixed, but in the meantime maybe consider: Creating a throwaway google account, setting up 2 factor authentication where you can and/or getting backups of your records. Here is Markiplier's video about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWaz7ofl5wQ Please let other people know what is going on. -

Good info, just saw the video you mentioned earlier. Also, Mariplier?
YouTube's policies are kind of like a kid learning to drive. They get going and are excited, then they either grind the gears or step on the brakes too quickly. They overcorrect, then overcorrect that overcorrection.
Sad thing is, I'm not sure they'll ever stop with their odd policies. They're desperate to always be socially acceptable and advertiser friendly (read: stay clear of any controversy whatsoever) and their automated systems reflect a certain...over-enthusiasm.

sharknado34 reacted to Airdragonz in Upgrading 4690k + 1070 to high end Ryzen 3900x (or 3950x) build
1) a 3900x is perfectly fine with a 1070 unless you want to shell out the money for a 2080 (ti).
3) psu should be upgraded as you're slightly borderline in terms of power draw
4) same as first point, 1070 is plenty fine unless you got cash to burn
6) an nvme is not going to see much benefit. Transfer speeds will be faster, but an ssd is fine unless time is expensive for you
7) look into 2x16gb sticks of 3600 ram. Ryzen 300 benefits most from 3600 to 3733 mhz and best with 2 sticks
8. once you get into the $200+ range, most mobos will perform similarly
9) No idea what issues there are. I have a 60hz and 100hz and they're fine
10) yes
11) no
12) possibly, it really depends on your budget
13) if you can, then yes

alright, those 12 cores will go to use then thankfully
NVMe SSDs are only useful for huge file transfers, they don't come into play in your average gaming PC. The M.2 form factor is nice and convenient though, a SATA M.2 drive may suit you well.
higher frequency = more bandwidth, and higher clock + lower CAS latency multiplier = faster latency. Dual channel also doubles your bandwidth, so two or four ram dimms will optimize bandwidth. Memory bandwidth affects gaming performance a lot, and more so, affects Ryzen a lot, because AMD designed Ryzen's cores to communicate with each other based on memory bandwidth.
memory phases still matter a ton. We have various tier lists on the forum, including motherboard, that you can see by clicking my parts in my signature below.
there can be potential issues, but I've been using a 144Hz and 60Hz to great effect so personally I'd save the cash.
yes
Probably not
depends on what you want to do with your current parts. I never upgrade my own rig at once but that's my preference.

Cas 16 does pretty well for really high frequency kits, but if your workload is memory intensive, a lower latency kit would benefit you.
At about $200-$300, every motherboard is using a similar vrm outfitting. If you're looking to OC more than a little, try this:

sharknado34 got a reaction from tmartin11 in New monitor
If you aren't going to be using it for anything at the moment, it might be worth just waiting (Though I assume that you will be gaming on it in the meantime). Also is the monitor still under warranty? Even if not there may be a possibility of it being replaced. If you do have to get a new monitor now though what Gregger said is true too...

This is a pretty good video. I think there are a few other similar ones on youtube as well. I havn't done something like that before, but taking it apart and letting it dry is probably a good idea.

I would say mostly yes, but then on top of what they did in the video you might want to take the keyboard (separate from anything electronics or batteries) and wipe it down/ wash it off.

Thats probably a good idea. Isopropl alchohol will evaporate quickly preventing parts from getting ruined too. So do that and probably avoid water if you can...
-
sharknado34 got a reaction from Sde in liquid Damage on Laptop
either way it is probably about the same risk I would think... they are usally fairly well contained... (aside from m.2 ssds) but if it is smaller then less chance of there being water there too.
-

I mean its not that hard to take one apart. It is cheaper to take it apart, but yes you could get somewhere to fix it for you

One thing that I also noticed was that you have a 144hz monitor (which is great would reccomend), but you don't have the graphics hardware to back it up... so give it a more powerful graphics card for certain.
