I understand your point but you're ignoring the 1800x was made to operate on higher frequency, thus why it won't stress as much, if you overclock an i5 6600k to 4.2ghz it will be stressing more than the i7 6700k at stock because that is its native frequency, it isn't going "OVER-its-clock" get it?

Yes it is a good video, BIOS version has nothing to do with the physical stressing of the CPU therefore it is completely up-to-date for this matter indeed.

ok wait for Ryzen first of, we dont know prices and preformance of the Ryzen CPUs yet but there could be one thats the perfect fit for this. when looking at current CPUs the cheapest id go would be an I7 4770K(preferably the I7 4790K because the 4770 has horrible thermals unless delided) and then throwing an overclock on it. there is currently no AMD CPU capable of not bottlenecking a Titan X, but Ryzen will change that most likely

Ok, so I take from that i7-4790 isn't actually a big no-no like the AMD is. It's still about 60€ cheaper than an i7-7700K.
Thanks a lot for this video, clearly shows what the problem is with AMD in comparison to Intel CPUs when it comes to high end GPUs. An 8350 is a bad choice for high-end cards above GTX 1060...

Well, there WILL be a bottleneck but I think you mean it wouldn't be as significant. My dilemma was which to go for to get the least bottleneck for the least amount of money... Kind of.
That's a good point to think about... Also the video above shows that e.g. playing Cities Skylines requires more CPU usage than GPU for calculating AI and whatnot. A lot of games I play rely much on CPU.

yeah beat me to it, find a dell precision or latitude with multiple Msata slots and RAID those badboys.
 
in seriousness though, just install windows on them, MSATA ssd's get posted so fast i can think of few storage devices that boot faster 

I've seen PCIE cards for MSATA drives, i don't know how you would RAID them any other way than windows striping though, so not sure if u could boot a quad MSATA RAID. Pretty sure u could just get 2 dual MSATA PCIe cards and stripe them in windows though, just for funs

The Tesla and Quadro products are meant for professional use. The Geforce products are for gaming. As far as I know they can run games similarly to how comparable Geforce cards do, just at prices that don't make any sense for consumer use.
 
My understanding is that Quadro cards are intended specifically for 3D modeling work and actually differ very little from the Geforce cards of the same generation, aside from a larger pool of VRAM and the drivers. Tesla cards are meant for computation.
