Can I use a pen drive as one would use a secondary HDD in their rig?

I got an Asus Vivostick ts10 which coems with only 32gb of storage. I also boughta 64gb lexar thumbdrive, hoping that if I formatted it to NTFS I would be able to install programs on it. halp pls

It'll be too slow.

it doesn't matter to me, I just need more space, I clearly can't shove an ssd in it...

Edit: and the whole thing is the same size as an m.2 nvme drive xD

Ehh why not , if you don't mind it being small capacity , slow speed and maybe disconnecting sometimes

Perfectly fine. The read performance will be a bit faster than an HDD but I wouldn't put anything sensitive on it.

and in case I wasn't clear... it doesn't work. I try to install a program, and it tells me that it needs to be installed on a local hard drive.

Lmao ok jokes aside , some installer doesn't allow you to install it on your thumbdrive because files will be installed on the registry too , you can try looking for portable version of the app , maybe look at this site on your free time .

The only way a program will work on thumbdrives is that the program is portable , but maybe you can try installing on your desktop and then dragging the file onto the thumbdrive and see what will happen LMAO

The only way a program will work on thumbdrives is that the program is portable , but maybe you can try installing on your desktop and then dragging the file onto the thumbdrive and see what will happen LMAO

Ahh sorry , I don't  know any way to make window recognize your thumbdrive as a HDD and not a removal disk drive . :c

Flash drives have a bit in their address that flags them as such. You can try a program to remove the flag, but I won't help with that.

Keep in mind flash drives aren't meant for long term storage. They're not the highest quality flash.
