What is an IRSSI connect bot and what is it used for? If you could give me a basic run down of what it is and how to use it I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks

teddy710 reacted to Stardar1 in Monitors: A Bright Beginning
haha ok.
monitor specs:
Resolution - the number of pixels, higher is better, but harder to run, 1920x1080 (width by height) is pretty much standard at this point.
Screen Size - the length of the diagonal of the screen, but keep in mind that as the screen gets bigger, the pixels will get bigger unless you increase resolution as well.
Response time - pretty simple, the time between when the PC says to put something on the screen and the screen does it, anything under 20 milliseconds (ms) won't be noticeable.
Frequency (also called Refresh Rate) - Measured in Hertz (Hz), this is how many times per second the screen will update, 60 is standard, but 90, 120 and 144 Hz monitors are available.
EDIT: I recommend nothing bigger than 25" for 1920x1080, and nothing bigger than 30" for 1440x2560
Also, those resolutions are in a 16:9 aspect ration (the ratio of the width to the height), Widescreen monitors are also available at larger ratios (they will be wider).

teddy710 got a reaction from Noel Earvin Piamonte in Building A Gaming PC
OK and if you get any full builds from anyone on here you may wanna do a little research so as not to get anything you won't want. A friend of mine gave me a full build about 4 months ago and I didn't know anything about computers. But I learned since then and looked back on his plan for me and realized it was total trash lol so glad I didn't just go with his word.

teddy710 reacted to Omon_Ra in Frickin Cables
For the 'exterior' cords/cables; or the ones that go from the computer to something, are rather few. You need two AC power cords, one from the wall (surge protector/power conditioner/UPS ideally) to the PSU. It'll look like this: http://www.monoprice.com/search/index?keyword=ac+power+cord but should come with your power supply. The other AC power cord is for the monitor, and should also come with that. You need a video cable, either HDMI (http://www.monoprice.com/search/index?keyword=hdmi), Display Port (http://www.monoprice.com/search/index?keyword=display%20port&mode=list&category_1=Cables) [there is also mini-Display Port], DVI (http://www.monoprice.com/category?c_id=102&cp_id=10209) or VGA (http://www.monoprice.com/category?c_id=102&cp_id=10201). Depending on the cable you go with, it can carry audio with it (HDMI/Display Port) or you'll need headphones/speakers to hook up if you want/need audio (DVI/VGA). 3.5mm is the standard output jack and depending on the speakers, you'll need a 3.5mm to RCA, 3.5mm, 1/4"; or alternatively optical cables. Then you need a mouse/keyboard, which will typically be USB now, but PS2 is still sometimes used for keyboards. But that's really the bare essentials once you have the computer built. Recap: two AC power cords, video cord, mouse, keyboard, audio optional.
Then for the 'interior,' everything you need should either come with your motherboard (SATA cables, fan splitters/extensions, and other random stuff they decide to give you), power supply (if it's modular, all the power cables), or case (front panel connectors, fan hubs/controllers), so don't worry about sourcing them unless you want custom sleeving or need extras.

yea, especially if your pc is not going to be near the router and that would free up a pci slot for other things

Yeah, after looking at the benchmark I'm thinking about going with the 6700k. And yeah video editing isn't gonna be a priority for me at the moment at least.
