as kalnick said, the 8 pins are for jumpers. there is usually instructions on the drive sticker, or in the manual (can find online). in many cases, no jumper is default.

If you use it with Chrome, favorite stay synchronized, so if you login into chrome with your Google (Gmail) account, you have access to your favorite.

this. if you're not going to have much in the way of programs and files could get a 120GB ssd instead of the 1TB HD for more speed.

Well, as the book Fahrenheit 451 suggest, the auto ignition point of paper is around 450 degree... Fahrenheit, so around 230°C.
From what I saw, that value can change depending on the type of paper and how long it have to be exposed to that temperature to auto ignite, and it can be higher than that by several degrees. So if the computer stay stay at that temperature for long enough (meaning that the temperature does not dissipate), it would auto ignite and burn... but I doubt  that could happen. If a cardboard computer catch on fire, I would not blame the temperature, but I would suspect a spark created by a short-circuit, that could happen in any case (but would only start a fire in a cardboard box)... that's what I would think.

I know that these are the US rules, but that give you a good idea of what can go in Carry-On or Checked luggage: https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/prohibited-items

It might be slightly different by country (in Japan lithium batteries outside of a device must be in carry-on only).

Technically, not exactly. En to go further, I would say that I used the wrong expression as I was looking about information regarding video transcoding.

Read this for difference between thes words: http://wolfcrow.com/blog/the-difference-between-encoding-transcoding-and-rendering/

And this article on transcoding on CPU using handbrake vs using GNU NVENC encoder (and the second page for result : http://www.techspot.com/article/1131-hevc-h256-enconding-playback/page5.html
So in other words, GPU encoding in h265 get worst result than CPU in h264, and CPU h265 always beat the h264.

    1. if you route the cable under the mobo tray... it mean that all the cables are hanging under the tray... you should have a cover under to hide the long psu cables. The "foot"
design is nice, but would give a perfect angle to see the cables hanging under the case.

    2. you talked about the pus... but how do you mount it ? the fan facing the hole in the side ? I do not clearly see the hole for it in the tray. And what about the power cable ? to fit it under the case would most likely need a 90 degree cable... and that would still be an other cable hanging under the case.

    3. what about fan mount and dust filter ?

    4. usually, the back of the case is not just flat, might require some redrawing or better explanation on extension card installation ans the bracket of the card would bump on the back pannel and prevent installation.

there is a comment about the pci slot, as there is two round holes, I thing the plan is to have place for a dual slot graphic card, there is just one missing hole in the drawing

I feel like you will have much more bottleneck for the HDD speed / Network speed. I would be surprised to see a CPU at 100% work load over file transfer.
Using Windows 10 also allow you to create a disk pool (with various size of hdd) to have redundancy without having to do raid. I use it and I think it's a nice feature (sure other people will say why it's no good but still, it's an option).

Alice in game got a reaction from MrStormTrooper in Is 3D TV dead?
I got a 3D tv somehting like 3 years ago and I never really watched 3D content with it, I tried onece and it work well with passive glasses.

So the real question is, do you have or actively plan to get 3D content and watch it on a 3D tv. As the content is somwhat rare or hard to aquire, you have to ask yourself if you are getting a feature that you will use or a feature.

I did not choose my TV for the fact that it had 3D. I do not regret my choice, but that have nothing to do with the 3D feature.

I would definitely seek out 3D BluRays but if their availability is limited to begin with, it may not be worth choosing 3D over standard 4K.

I think I'll maybe take the time to see just how much content I can actually find that I'd be interested in viewing and make my decision from there.

I was looking for something like this. Found many tenkey keyboards (numpad) from japanese copany like Sawada, Elecom and iBuffalo. It can be easily found for 1000 to 3000 yen in Japan (about 10 to 30 US$).
Might not be super easy to find, but possible : http://www.amazon.de/ELECOM-Tastatur-USB-Anschluss-kompakte-TK-TCM003WH-Japan/dp/B002NEF7Q8?ie=UTF8&keywords=elecom%20keyboard&qid=1461985739&ref_=sr_1_23&sr=8-23

From that video, you can see at the end that he removed the piece where your broken connector is. That piece is the bridge between the drive sata connector and the usb connector. So yes, it it possible to get the drive out of the enclosure and use it as an internal drive.

Alice in game got a reaction from I am an SSD in How to put music on an ipod 4g without downloading ANYTHING
It really depend on how you like it. What I do is this.
In preference, advance, you can select you iTunes folder. For me it's "My music" folder (that is set on a storage HDD and not on the windows disk). I checked the "let iTunes magnage my music" and "copy in itunes folder the files added to the library" (or something like this, my iTunes is not in english).
To add a song to iTunes, I drag and drop the song in itunes, it is copied by itunes in the folder (organized like this Band/Album/## Song.mp3 ), and it's organized by itunes. Then I delete the original files.
To delete a song, I delete it from itunes and when the popup ask, I say "put it in trash can".
I never manually manage my music outside of itunes, so I never have wrong file association between itunes and real files and never have files not in itunes in the computer.

That's my personal way to use it, but if  you like to control your file structure, that's not got (I personally hated mp3 folders, like just one folder for all, with complicated naming scheme (or it was not always the same) and not much foloders as I did not wanted to create folders myself.

Actually, you can probably see the screws that are holding the fan from the top of the psu, so can easily figure out the size of the fan.
Installing it could be easily done. Remove two of the opposite screws of the fan, put the grill, and screw back the two screws you removed. So you not have to open  the psu and you have a grill on top of you psu. Not perfect, but relatively safe.

Might depend on the psu ... but on mine it could be done.

Alice in game got a reaction from CostcoSamples in Custom Desk Ideas?
this build can give some ideas

Personally, what I do not like of any pc desk is that the desk itself become super tick. I like to slide the harm of my chair under the desk and that would be impossible with those desk, and it also make less space for legs (so crossing you legs can become challenging). So that's a thing to keep in mind, how you like to sit might impact the build.

First thing, what it the total size of your desk space ? 14 feet large but how deeep ? It should be at least 1.5 feet for the receivers and other things, My personal desk is 3 feets deep and my screen is one feet from the wall, so I would say that 2 feet deep would allow enough space and the screen could even end up wall mounted. Tha'ts really a matter of how far on your desk you like your screen to be.

For the base, I would personally build two storing spaces on both sides of the place you will be sitting. As my desk is 4 feet large (and it's more than plenty), you can for example plan two 5 feet large shelves, as high as you want the desk top to be. In these shelves, you can place speakers, shelf, file cabinet.. anything. After that, i would pile up all the receivers and sound system stuff and build the computer space on top of that, righ next to space for sitting. You can have a custom window on the top, but not the inconvenience of having the computer under your keyboard.

On top of the two bookshelf, you put a long board that will be the desk top.

On top of the cabinet, you can build a one feet deep bookshelf (depending on how much stuff you have).

You should make a quick sketch up drawing to get an idea of what you want to do, it could also help giving better advices or ideas.

It could work but it seem to be far from ideal. The thing I would do (as someone said there), and if it's not rented, is to use the phone cable to pull the ethernet cable you will use.
