Thats what I am thinking, I was looking at the STRIX 1060 and it was nice and flashy, but I just want to play games and if the Galax is just as good or +/- a couple % it seems worth it to me.

" A server is essentially a computer with software designed to perform a specific "serving" function to other computers. This function can be thousands of different types of serving such as websites, video, music or any other form of data."

I really like Raja Koduri, he seems to really care about the Radeon brand giving value back to the consumers.

I feel like is AMD wasn't here to release zen+vega to move the market forward it would stagnate forever.

If you primarily use your PC for gaming a 1070 would be a good choice.

Rolfejc reacted to Energycore in Do you recommend XFX
Absolutely. Their GPU build quality is pretty good, customer service is at least decent, and their Power Supplies are all good expect for the super entry-level XT series.

But thanks to them you con find great power supplies for next to nothing in many countries.
And even the XT series isn't the disaster that the VS from corsair or the TR2 from Thermaltake are.

I'm using a XFX card right now. Basically all their products are good except for those XT PSUs. In general when it comes to GPUs it's hard to go wrong. The only cards that seem a bit cheap are the Powercolor cards this gen as they have low spec VRMs but for normal use (no hardcore overclocking) they would still do fine.

Definitely get the Xeon. Having to wait for code to compile is the worst and pretty much all compilers can use the 8 threads.

I would go with the S7. Modern phones can generally meet your performance requirements quite easily. The S7 is a great phone anyways.

Rolfejc got a reaction from Psittac in Does RAM manufacturer matter?
No not really but look at the warranty is my recommendation. I bought some cheap no name 8GB DDR3 RAM awhile ago on eBay for ~$20 back when DDR3 was around ~$45 brand new for 8GB. It never worked :(. After looking the memory up online it only had a 3 year warranty which is interesting. Any decent RAM should have a lifetime warranty.

Rolfejc got a reaction from Velvet Revolver in will this pc work
If you plan to play games yes it will work. The G4400 may experience stuttering in some games though. The 32GB SSD for $40 is also a poor buy. PSU also isn't that great but if you're on a tight budget it will get the job done.

Probably not worth waiting. At best it will probably only be slightly faster than anything Nvidia has to offer right now.

SATA 3, which should come on all motherboards on the intel side
Only if you're running the first gen i3/5/7 cpu's that doesn't support it. That only has sata 2 support. Sandy bridge and higher have sata 3 support.

I would probably go for the  Trezr X6 630. To me the tempered glass looks nice and the case looks like it's made of quality as well. It depends on the price though. If there is a significant price difference I would just go with the cheaper option. Both are great cases after all, you don't really need much more generally speaking for even a nice build.

It's an ok build, good for a $500 budget. RX 460 would be a better choice though for similar performance for a cheaper price http://pcpartpicker.com/product/sXkwrH/powercolor-radeon-rx-460-2gb-red-dragon-video-card-axrx-460-2gbd5-dhoc

Rolfejc got a reaction from i_build_nanosuits in Buying X99 motherboard and selling it a few years later to make profit
I've noticed that some X79 motherboards can sell for quite a bit on eBay after some searching. I've thought about doing things like this before, in the past it hasn't gone very well for me either. I sold my GPU a few weeks before Polaris launched (had a 290) since I wanted to try and get the value for the card while I could and it didn't go over too great. Long story short I ended up with a used Fury lol, noticeable upgrade for me but I did have to spend a bit of cash to get the Fury. Around ~$140 or something like that was the upgrade cost. I'm hoping buying and then selling a X99 motherboard in the future may help me make a bit of profit, even if it's only $20. I have a few concerns though. First problem is that there are more X99 motherboards than there are X79 in existence I guess. According to userbenchmark, there are thousands of 5820k CPUs. In comparison there are only a few thousand X79 CPUs. This can be good or bad I suppose. It would mean I would have more competition since there are more X99 motherboards, if there are more chips floating around though that may just end up leading people to a X99 motherboard when they upgrade though. Biggest problem though would probably be Zen. Zen is going to be all on AM4, no two sockets for enthusiast and the mainstream market with the way Intel currently does things. That might ruin the value of a X99 board since the features aren't really needed on there half the time anyways, for example 8 ram slots. I could buy a $170 X99 Extreme3 though. I could then sell it for maybe $200 in the future and make $30 from it. Not much but it's a bit of cash made. I could also always use a X99 CPU, problem is though all I do is game so X99 is a waste of cash for money. The way I see it this could either go over fairly well, making me a few quick $$$ in a few years, or it could go poorly and I spend some unnecessary cash which I could always still put towards a better GPU.

I'm a student and I have a dedicated rig for doing anything more than assignments. I'm not in college but I think building a dedicated rig is probably the way to go. Gaming on laptops until recently has been terrible compared to desktops, Nvidia's Pascal mobile cards are good choices but I'm not familiar with the price of some of those laptops. Seeing as AMD has little in the laptop market, I'd imagine desktop would be a much better way to go if you want decent value. My laptop for school is cheap and basic, nothing special really. It's not the best but not the worst either, I don't really have a problem with it. As long as you're willing to play games on a desktop, I think a dedicated rig with a cheap laptop is the way to go.

Rolfejc got a reaction from keithxue in Any hints on why my cpu is heating so much? Also review on Arctic Liquid Freezer 240
I forgot to add is it possible the thermal paste on your CPU has dried up? If so I'd recommend immediately putting on new thermal paste.I would also make sure the thermal paste you're using is of decent quality. You can do the spread test I guess if that is what you call it.  Also if you don't plan to overclock your 4690k a AIO cooler isn't generally going to be needed. You'll get slightly better temperatures, but the price isn't very reasonable. As long as temps aren't getting into the 90C range, 5C cooler temps won't be a game changer if you have to pay $50+ more for a better cooler. If you want to overclock the Liquid Freezer 240 is a good choice.
