Wouldn't trust that unless you try the card on another system and see if it posts.

I see, well then tommorow I'll be attempting to add another gpu and see if it works, God I'm so reckless sometimes.... 😭

the light just means its getting power supplied is all.
so as for windows detecting it or not, the firmware or bios chip reports to windows what the hardware is so if the bios chip is now reporting as a different card or not at all then windows cannot properly interface with the device through drivers, this then will carry onto the bios flashing program as it relies on windows and the installed drivers to communicate with the card. if this is the case and the card is not reporting hardware to windows as it should then the only option will be using one of the tools i posted before.

while this is only the vbios at play here the bios chip itself is non removable/replaceable and is the the most important piece of hardware on the gpu as it is the interface link between the gpu and the rest of your pc, without it there is no communication between hardware or drivers

If you like the look of the reference card (which swayed my decision) the XFX XXX or Black Edition RX480 8GB is a beaut, it also runs games at 1080p at max no issues and some at 1440p with little issues.
Drivers have been given a good set of updates and I have not (touch wood) had a SINGLE problem with it. Also the Radeon Wattman is really useful and IMHO better than Geforce Experience (speaking from experience from using both regularly).

Only issue is when the fan gets anything above 2100 iirc it starts to sound like a used hairdryer

Yes, a lot of people are furious at Logan, i am not taking sides, i am not saying what Logan did was right in taking down the site and deleting posts, but i can imagine the pressure he was under and i can understand why he did what he did.....If my company was in turmoil, the last thing i would want it a thousand people screaming at me demanding answers, everything was falling down around him, and he made mess of it...shit happens

The biggest mistake he made was letting it out into the public, this should have all been dealt with behind closed doors.

I have no idea what will happen from here on in, their patron has halved in the last few days, they are down to $4000 a month now. it will probably go even lower, he threw up a laptop video last night, it's done 32k views which ain't bad....If he somehow starts producing the content they promised they may survive.

Tell me about it - and I'm not even on the TS forums. Even here, people are so salty, and frankly, a lot (yet not all) of them are acting childish - way more than Logan, who they judge so harshly.

Sorry @megaant4, but I don't think you were going to get many good answers anyway, and certainly not from this thread in the state that it's in now.

Can someone make a sticky warning about making "Does this Bottleneck???" threads?

This thread will only start (yet another) endless mud-slinging match of
argumentative trolling and flaming. Thus, this thread is locked.
There are plenty of threads like this on the forum already if you want to read the answers.

Can we please get a mod filter on this forum to exclude any titles with "Intel vs. AMD", in any permutation.

I'm all for direct CPU : CPU comparisons, but this trash pops up everyday and is inevitably locked by the end of the day

Dude, really, just stop. Everything, I mean EVERYTHING you've just said had been disproven over a dozen times. The Tek Syndicate source was debunked, "Whoever owns consoles" does not own the gaming market, period. And when paired with any graphics card above a 280x, any and all AMD processors bottleneck those cards horrendously. You need to stop posting false information. You do not contribute, only mislead the uninformed, and frankly I and many others are sick of your lies.

@ I believe the consoles both have only 6 of the 8 cores available to the actual game, the other two are reserved for the OS/features.

And the Tek Syndicate videos are done with a 7870 and 670... neither are really representative of a modern high end GPU (so 970 and R9 390), I bet you will see more of a difference with better cards.

No way that will bottle the GTX 960 unless it is a poorly made game like world of tanks running on 1-core...

It all now comes down to how well Zen goes. If it fails, all the credibility goes out the window.

On the plus side and knowing both Samsung and Global Foundries should give AMD the push to get things right this time.

You all have to remember that it all comes down to them both competing, otherwise everything will be a monopoly and Intel will overprice EVERYTHING. So it's not good to say "But Intel is better? Go home fanboy." That doesn't help in the long run.

Think of the cost of the implications at stake here. Sure, you might not like AMD, but without them and at the end of the day they at least keep prices down for both of the companies. Competition is what's important. Look at both AMD and Nvidia, they might not be competing at levels in which we want, but they're competing at a level in which we're seeing improvements across the board. This sort of low blow killing spree hatred is just not a good thing in general.

AMD have always had less money than Intel, they can't just make something overnight and that is why they can't compete as well against Intel.

That's the big picture here. We need competition, we need innovation and better future developments in the technology of IT. This comes at a price.

In more simple terms: Competition good! Monopoly Bad!

I have High hopes Zen will deliver. They're now going to use SMT which Intel uses, DDR4. PCI-E 3 and all the other bells and whistles... You get my point.

@ While you do bring up a good point, all of those videos are outdated. It's been 3 years since AMDs last "High End" SKUs. It's time they upgraded.

Sorry (actually not sorry), but I don't buy into that mentality that if you can run a game with ALL sliders all the way to the right and get 60 fps, then it's not meant for that resolution. Being able to tone fine tune settings is the reason I'm a PC gamer. 144 Hz is also not essential for anything that isn't a fast paced competitive shooter. Let's stop moving the goal post. 290 and 780 are not 1080p cards, not even for 2015 games (except maybe the 780 until Nvidia decides to stop sabotaging Kepler cards).
