NinJake reacted to Spotty in Microsoft outage takes down web search for Bing, DuckDuckGo, Copilot, and others
DuckDuckGo uses Bing's search for the bulk of its search results. It does have its own web crawlers and sources some information from other search engines for specialised features of the search engine, but I believe that Bing provides most of the traditional search results (website links).

    https://duckduckgo.com/duckduckgo-help-pages/results/sources/

The Maps and Videos search on DDG is currently working, likely because those aren't relying on Bing. Web search, images, and News are currently down.

This stuff is confusing with all these marketing names but just for clarities sake, Lightspeed is their wireless tech. The charging mousepad is "PowerPlay".

That's right. I've had it for many years now and no complaints, so long that I forgot the actual name of it! 🫠

Company has no official presence in the country you bought it from. They have partnerships with the 3 companies in Thailand. Since that is the case, your proper contact was the place you bought it from.

Googling the name of the store you bought this from has a rating of 2.6 out of 5 on Google Maps. So it’s kind of clear their customer service is shit.

“gamer” shit is always shit. I lolled hard at the title.

The apple usb c to 3.5mm jack adapter if 2.1 is ok. Else well a soundcard.

However just to humour us could you make a live linux usb and boot from that. Ubuntu or others is fine. Just to see if also in another os it is happening.

I'm not seeing any glaring issues with that socket. It's hopefully just the memory if you've ensured you've tried both ram sticks in that DIMMA2 slot.

You think the bent pin is on the RAM or the CPU/socket? I don't see anything on the RAM pic you sent, if it's on the CPU/socket, please post a picture of that where you think it's bent.

edit - if you think it's this, that's normal.

It should require slot 2 to POST, so testing with just a stick in slot 4 might not work.

Per the manual of your board:

    PROB650-SWIFI.pdf (msi.com)

It'll also take up to 5 minutes for it to do RAM training with DDR5.

If you tried each stick individually, it's very possibly the RAM.

The only other thing left to try would be to reseat the CPU.   If some contacts aren't sitting flush in the socket, you may get RAM Channels that don't work right.

Also:  5600 CL36 is kinda terrible memory in general, if you're returning it, maybe look for a better kit?

    Ryzen really like 6000 CL30-32

NinJake reacted to Eigenvektor in Can I remote into a work VPN while having cloudflare family DNS as my routers DNS?
A DNS server can't really block a VPN connection (or malware). It could refuse (or be unable to) to resolve the host name of your brother's work place to their IP, but that's about it. Once the IP has been resolved, the DNS server isn't involved anymore and the connection is between home and office.

The claim that their DNS "blocks malware" is also… well, it's marketing. The only thing they really do is refuse to resolve host names of sites that are classified as containing malware or adult content. That's it. They can't actively block the connection.

It's like saying my telephone book blocks you from calling adult hotlines. It may not contain their numbers, but that doesn't mean they don't still exist and can be called, if you get hold of the number any other way.

So if a kid is somewhat technically inclined, they can just reconfigure their PC to use any other DNS server and Cloudflare's "protection" is null and void. Or better yet, install a RasPi with their own caching DNS server, with any other DNS server as its upstream 😛

Check the polarity. If they are wired out of phase then the lower frequencies will be attenuated due to the cones moving in opposite directions.

Yep, was straightforward. You really want both machines wired, with fixed IPs, set the transmitting machine to send to the IP of the receiving one, then once started on the receiving end right click on one of the "Stream name" fields and it should find the stream, click on it, select the destination strip and you should be good to go. Make sure to actually enable VBAN on the page 😄

I've been using Voicemeeter on the Windows side for receiving and mixing (need at least the Banana version for the VBAN integration) and vban_emitter on the linux machine, worked great.

why are you downloading hwinfo from shitty leech websites like that?
    https://www.hwinfo.com/download/

hwinfo is a monitoring tool. It wont tell you if your board has any issues, it will display sensor data. Finding issues is the technicians (in this instance, you) job.

NinJake reacted to 191x7 in What are the best headphones for PC gaming
Just headphones aren't the solution. And there is no "single best".

If you want the lowest latency, using the onboard audio chip (usually Realtek and that means a modern Realtek like the 1200 series or newer) is recommended.
Suppose you want the best audio experience (but a bit higher latency) with perhaps hard-to-drive headphones/IEM-s (high impedance or low sound-to-noise ratio or both). In that case, a decent DAC AMP unit or a stack (separate AMP and DAC one-on the other) is recommended, and eventually a good dongle DAC with inbuilt AMP.

Then you have to decide if you want open-back or closed-back headphones. or IEMs. or both to interchange.
In-ear monitors (IEM-s) sit between open and closed-back headphones when it comes to sound, but they do not cause "gamer hair" since there's no part that would sit on top of the head and push your hair down.

Soundwise, you want gear that doesn't limit you as the player and lets you hear all the stuff you're supposed to hear.
And that's for headphones - Sennheiser HD 560S, HD 490 Pro,  Fiio JT1, Beyerdynamic DT 990, DT 900 Pro X, 1990, HarmonycDyne Zeus
For IEMs models like - QKZ x HBB, Truthear Nova, Moondrop Lan, Truthear Crinacle Zero, Simgot EM6L or better.
Check Fresh Reviews for the reviews and comparisons, he does for Apex, Valorant, CoD, and RS6.

As for the AMP&DAC, I'd say you'd be fine with an Akliam PD4, Truthear Shio, Moondrop Dawn Pro, or something similar.

NinJake reacted to Stahlmann in why does every youtubers buy high end camera and still just upload non hdr videos.
Firefox doesn't support HDR at all, which is the main reason why I don't use it.

I don't know why you're so fixated on PCI-P3 color space coverage as your indicator of HDR quality. A monitor with 85% coverage and a good local dimming backlight will have better HDR than a monitor with 99% coverage and no local dimming.

Decent HDR monitors can be had for $280 nowadays, but it's only one specific model from AOC so far. All the other monitors that market HDR in this price range don't offer any real HDR capabilities.
