Pretty much any 23-24" IPS 1080p 60hz monitor will do the job, your main one where you game will still be the Benq.
There seems to be more than enough room for it on your desk, it doesn't really have to look good from afar, it has to be comfortable when you are sitting there using it. Just pick a side for it to sit and place it. You don't really need to worry about bezels, it's not a triple monitor gaming setup, just a "support" panel so to speak.

Personally I'd get a second monitor. Yours is really nice for gaming, but it's much more comfortable to have a second display for general use. Ever alt-tabbed from a game?  Well not needed if you have another monitor, you could just have discord/youtube/a music playlist/twitch/etc on the other monitor while you game.

    Didn't work

Edit for clarification: AMD control panel now sees my monitor as FreeSync compatible but enabling it gives me tons of black-screens mixed with an error from my monitor saying 'not optimal resolution'

It also says to test freesync is working in a demo, then links to an Nvidia G-Sync demo.

    Its not do-able.

Because GPUBoss. Also, Nvidia uses an architecture that requires less shaders and higher clocks. AMD has a different architecture that uses more shaders and lower clocks. You cannot compare with hardware specs over different architectures.

I would reccomend getting of Scan. they have 1060s for just over £200 and also have finance options.

you need to relook at the game performance of the two GPUs

the 390 beats the crap out of the GTX980 in most games.

and note here the 390 fully supports DX12

the 980 barely supports it and in DX12 titles it gets it ass whooped by the 390 everywhere

VAT is 20%, so theres £40 atleast and shipping will be stupidly expensive since its across an entire ocean. And as far as I could see, nowhere stocks Fury's now, last place that did had them for £300 before they went out of stock

I have been gaming on 3x 1440 in portrait, so I know a thing or 2 about it.
And about keeping up, my 980Ti SLI could only handle that resolution on about medium to high settings, when aiming for 60 fps. But even then so did I dip down to mid 30 from time to time. Not to mention that very few games supported the resolution.
All of that combined makes me recommend gaming on 1 monitor only.

Curved multimonitir set up looks cool, but if you need more screen real estate id go with the 1440s.

980Ti SLI is still more powerful, if you really need that power.

However, if one 1080 is enough to drive your system. I'd would take one card over two cards just for the driver, heat, etc.

idbe going for the latest card because of the driver updates which could improve preformance even more since they wont focus as much on the older once AKAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA 980 DOWNWARDS i had to do it sorri

basically id go for the 1070 due the larger memory buffer @ 8gb it will handle better, + it has a tiny edge over the 980ti performance so yea, just get an aftermarket 1070 or the founders

Oh, well shut me up! haha. Well at the time I was looking at Overclockers UK! Personally I would have still gone for the 1070. That 8GB of VRAM is sure to come in handy as games seem to be steadily making more and more use of it!

depends on what resolution you're playing setup and features you want, also if noise/temps and power consumption is a thing

KamilKrait15 reacted to JefferyD90 in Worth switching to x99?
Okay, devices would include any new phone along with a external HDD.  Not to include USB type C is going to become as commonly used as type A over the coming years.  Quite literally everything will have type C support.

If you overclock your x99 processor to 4.0Ghz (which is a damn good overclock) then a Z170 based processor can overclock to a SOLID 4.5Ghz.  So overclocking isn't a good point for your example.

And the PRINCIPLE is going to be it cost less to STAY on the Z170 platform (as a matter of fact, it cost NOTHING at all) but it will be a $500 barrier to entry to even get INTO the X99 platform.  And can you honestly look me in the face and say "its worth a minimum of $500 to go back a processor architecture and not get any reasionable benefits out of it"?

thank you we've already established that
I'm pretty sure someone somewhere said the same about FireWire....
so you can't name any devices?
I'm pretty sure 4GHz isn't that great of an overclock, the 4.5GHz number floats around as the average, but it's not the point
can you count the FPS's for me?
here's an educational video on counting
    (no offence, it's a prank)
if you re-read the post history, I'm pretty sure we've already established from the beginning that it is stupid to replace a Z170 build with an X99 and even the other way around - to replace X99 with a Z170 would be equally as stupid, I specifically pointed that out again trying to clarify in the very post you replied just now

KamilKrait15 reacted to sublimaze in Worth switching to x99?
The only benefit would be in apps/games that use more than 4 cores. If you routinely use apps/games that use more than 4 cores, then go with X99. If not, then stay with Z170. If you do not know whether your main apps/games use more than 4 cores, then you probably don't need X99.

KamilKrait15 reacted to JefferyD90 in Worth switching to x99?
This right here.  And 95% of games don't use 4 cores, and the ones that do, don't do it very good.

Honestly, the only programs that I know that will use all 10 cores of the new broadwell is going to be zipping up files and a higher end video encoder/decoder (because even the cheep/free ones still only use 1-2 cores).
