  1. The definition of speech is routinely argued. If the word is used in legal doctrine, it will be questioned at some point. edit: As far as homebrewing is concerned, I would think that it would be argued that the actions taken *add* functionality and therefore are not in an effort to "repair" or "maintain".
  2. I can't wait until you have 1 camera (lens) surrounded in a circular pattern by 4+ camera (lenses) on the a smartphone. I have no idea what they will be for, but this will be hilarious.
  3. I'm not trying to be an unhelpful asshole. I just think if you think you're going to walk into the kind of tech success like Linus or others without spending significant capital... you're incredibly naive. Linus worked at NCIX and made unboxing videos for them. He was 'famous' well before he made LinusTechTips. Without NCIX, he'd be another random bleach blonde hair guy riding on a motorbike, trying to impress girls with his watercooling rig. If you want to do what he did, maybe you can work a deal with Best Buy or something to showcase their tech. IDK. But the reality is that I can go to youtube right now and find a bunch of 'tech YTers' that have <1000 total views - and they've been on it as long as Linus. If you're going to do it, you have to accept that it will be hard at first. Review products you own (tech or not) and post it on YT. Find communities that are interested and insert them as it contributes to the conversation. Get your friends and family to watch a few minutes and give you feedback (and clicks - because you need YT's secret algorithm to like your videos). For every tech youtuber you can name, there is probably a story with them getting a 'head start' on the competition. None of them are really randoms that started within the last 5 years. Hell. Linus was a watercooling nut before he even started NCIX videos.
  4. Simple answer: you don't. I highly recommend you look into the backgrounds of the most famous tech youtubers. None of them got started with 'very little.' They found ways to get stuff (linus was at NCIX, MKBHD bought it, etc).
  5. I think he's dealing poorly with the failure of Tesla.
  6. I'm shocked that consumer protection laws allow this in Canada.
  7. I would imagine this will drive down RAM costs, slightly, as it will also enable sizes smaller than 256GB DIMMs. 32GB DIMMs won't be as stupid expensive as the current 32GB DIMMs are.
  8. This has to be factually false. It would also cost Samsung in excess of twice as much to pay that way, as they would have to count the money as well. Not only that - but the actual withdraw process and the shipping process would cost insane amounts. Not paying electronically would literally be the dumbest thing Samsung could do.
  9. I'm like 99% sure he wouldn't agree as he has a pretty strict policy on not wanting to be recognizable by the public. He likely would not want to appear on camera. Could Linus sell the idea if only his avatar appeared on screen? Also, It's not 100% that Linus could get his contacts to just give him the hookup for this new machine - though, that video would probably triple the average views (not sure if it really matters). All in all, I'm not sure he really needs it. His needs are met and he can't really do more than 1080p. He hasn't been a YTer that wants to upload content for other titles, either. He has seemed like a pretty great guy (he's nice but he's Canadian; they're required to be nice by law).
  10. The without 'DLSS and other enhancements' only matters if Nvidia can't get game makers to implement (fairly simple) features into their game engines.
  11. How can this be when the actual Government is the reason there is only 1 ISP. This has to be challenged by the higher courts. This is literally insane.
  12. That is literally, by far, the most realistic lighting. Every other game I've ever seen and most (real time) tech demos have this weird glow that makes the surfaces in the game look plastic like even if they are supposed to be metal, wood, cloth, flesh, or something else. That lighting is just jaw dropping. This is the kind of tech that makes it fun to go explore a game - because the game isn't optimized to push you towards other players (to shoot at them).
  13. This is about the quality of article I have come to expect from Tomshardware. They're not much better than CNET, if at all.
  14. These deals have gone to shit in the last few years.
  15. Might be time to dump any Intel stock you have for now. This looks really bad for them.
  16. This presumes that there would be support for DLAA. I think Nvidia's approach makes more sense and makes their GPU more versatile. It's just not an apples to apples comparison.
  17. This makes me wonder how much performance (FPS) is lost by turning on DLAA. If DLAA uses Tensor Cores, then this may be a much cheaper option to other AA methods. Nvidia could artificially inflate numbers by turning on traditional AA on 1080s and using their new tensor cores to do DLAA on 2080s.
  18. I'm sure people have figured out how to buy more than they should and will list them on ebay soon. I wonder what day 1 (9/20) cards will cost? $2400+?
  19. I'm interested to see that 30 FPS on a GSYNC+HDR monitor, even if it is at 1080p. As far as the comments about 4k or 1080p with RT. . . the 1080TI has one option: 4k with rasterization. The 2080TI has two options, 4k with rasterization (at a higher FPS) or 1080p with RT. It's an additional option you get. I can't wait to see benchmarks with (AAA) 4K games at over 120 FPS.
  20. I wonder how much of the price increase is due to DRAM prices going up and other components going up as well. DRAM pricing, right now, is insane.
