    That's actually simple.

Break them up. Monopolies are not supposed to exist anyways. And if a company fails, LET THEM FAIL.

    To people who ask why:

Being able to censor the opinions of the public, to that same public, is essentially more power than has ever been wielded in human history. That level of power is COMPLETELY unacceptable in the hands of ANYONE. It does not need to exist or be allowed. That is more power than even governments should be allowed to wield. Completely fucking egregious in its nature, and 100% guaranteed to corrupt anyone who wields said power.

    Simple.

You either abide free speech to anyone who joins, or you state up front "we are biased in favor of X opinion, anyone who disagrees with that opinion will be silenced, censored, and not given the human right to dissent".

Verbatim. End of story, nothing else is even remotely acceptable. I don't care if you're a private company. You are providing a service to the public, that allows said public to state their opinions, thoughts, etc. for free, to that same public. Providing such a platform should not EVER include the ability to censor opinions you disagree with, without blatantly and up front admitting to doing so.

Don't like it? Start a company in a different industry then.

This should be solely limited to political opinions. A company should not be able to blatantly ban people for being in support of a party that said company disagrees with. Companies are not people in and of themselves, they should not be allowed to have a political opinion. Corporate personhood is horse shit.

    Actually, hold the fuck up.
Many on this forum were crying about privacy and the government to not control the internet, and now we're coming out in favor of the government controlling the internet? People can't choose both.

    Download the tool here https://gizmodo.com/keep-track-of-who-facebook-thinks-you-know-with-this-ni-1819422352

    Souce : Gizmodo through TXP-Network-CRS's #security-bulletins thread https://gizmodo.com/facebook-wanted-us-to-kill-this-investigative-tool-1826620111

With Facebook's history of data mining and generally sketchy practices with consumer data (see Cambridge Analytica scandal) last year Gizmodo released a tool that allows you to inspect your People You may Know section and its often scarily accurate suggestions.
It's now come to light that last year Facebook tried to get them to take the tool down on the grounds that their TOS states that one may not solicit login information, despite the fact that they were not storing any data on their own servers. Gizmodo modified the tool to redirect you to a Facebook login page.

Now, the Knight First Amendment Institute has reached out to Facebook asking them to add a safe harbour to their TOS, which they have now done, as well as agreed to allow researchers and journalists access to an archive of political ads previously run on the platform but this is a small part of the problems Facebook causes (fake news, bubble syndrome, minion memes, etc. etc.)

My thoughts : Man, fuck facebook. After all the shady shit they've done they're still trying to take down a tool that helps you secure your data. Man am I glad I don't use Facebook

You should give the anime a watch. It's pretty brutal.

By that I only meant that restricting companies to alter their own designs just because some governmental organisation wants them to is wrong because it infringes their freedom of choice, and thus it also infringes on the freedom of choice of customers because what if someone just wants to have a lightning port because he has other devices compatible with it? Well, thanks to EU you might not have that choice anymore in Europe.

    This is my point

I doubt the EU is smart enough to realize that cables have two connectors on either end.

If they mandate that the iPhone use USB-C, just put that on the wall end and get off on a technicality.

I had a soft glass cleaning cloth between the Switch and the dock just to make sure it doesn't get scratched until the screen protector arrives.
Funnily enough the day it broke is the day I got the screen protectors.  Luckily I didn't install them.

And yeah, I have no idea what could have gone wrong but, since the green led flashed up, I'm assuming it was a power related thing. Maybe something got fried.
I'm just hoping it won't happen again.

TacoSenpai reacted to Master Disaster in "Fake News" Being published about subscription Windows 10
There's a very big change happening right now...

Over the last 5 to 10 years subscription services for media consumption have taken over, Netflix, Amazon Video, Spotify & YouTube Premium are all raking in the cash.

Both Amazon Music & iTunes now offer subscription services when traditionally they were buy & consume services.

Adobe have adopted a fully subscription based model ever since the first Creative Suite release.

Almost every major AAA video game studio have shown interest, or have already started to create Video Game streaming services. Microsoft, Sony & EA have offered subscription game passes for a while.

Both Microsoft & Sony have expressed interest in creating streaming only consoles where the only option is to stream games off the cloud.

In another 5 (maybe 10 tops) years the market will be so used to paying subscriptions for basically everything that paying a subscription every month for Windows will be totally normal.

It will start with the business and enterprise SKUs, MS are already creating that service right now and will slow but surely creep into the home SKUs.

Subscription based streaming of software makes total sense from a developer point of view. It kills piracy dead, kills modding dead and generates them a reliable and steady income stream every single month.
