I apologise if I'm being an idiot asking this, but are you sure your mobo supports NVME?

I did a quick google on a page of your mobo, and ctrl+f'd and typed in NVME and nothing came up.

So just to check you've tried the basics? Reseating, cmos clear etc?

Have you got another drive you can plug in to test some stuff?

Thanks! Would be nice if both my first X62 and my replacement X62 didn't both die. In one week the origional and the replacement died (one died an hour ago) so currently just staring at a great PC that can't go to the bios without overheating

    PState OC.
The efficiency of Ryzen however is so good that PState OC is not worth it. The lower clocks would be difference in terms of single digits.

Asus but yeh they do seem to have the right bios, im going to give it a shot with the "middle ground" one (the update between this new one and the one the board came with) a shot

    I know C, C++, and java.
I think C and C++ are almost identical, C++ is basically just C but with a lot more functionality.
You could learn C and then move into C++ to learn all the additional stuff.

Java is kinda different, everything is object oriented, which is good if you want to get a job involving programming.
Depends what kind of programs you want to write tbh, you can't go wrong picking either C/C++ or java.
Once you're good at programming switching languages isn't too difficult.

    Good idea.

My vote goes to C as well. C++ might spoil you though. C++17 varies quite a lot from C11.

not happening, those are propertiery motherboards.

    How much storage?

Why not just add a few drives to you desktop, make a volume with storage spaces, and share them in windows.

For that price Id either get a new system or a get a qnap nas. Both options are much lower power.

The cpu doesn't support raid, that dependt of software or the hardware raid card.

Don't use raid on the motherboard, it sucks, using zfs or storage spaces is much better.

You haven't given us much to go off of. How are we supposed to help you.
    Is it a desktop?
    If so, what motherboard?
    Is it a laptop?
    If so, what model?

Don't. It won't give you that much more performance and you will have 2x more risk to lose all your data.

If you really want to do it here is how:
Boot into your bios and set it on RAID mode. Restart your computer and you will get a new screen where you either have to press a button or it will go directly in the raid screen. Here you can configure your RAID. Save and restart into the windows installation. Select the RAID disk (it will show as one disk). Done

I'm jumping ship to a NZXT H440 on my build as well, but it seems like you'd be better off along the lines of my build (obviously you want more storage and possibly a second 980 / single Titan X) but the i7-4790k, 16GB Corsair Vengeance, H105, AX760 and Maximus VII Hero makes for a sweet build and I'd highly recommend it.

The soundcard is a complete waste of money - you have a high end motherboard and no need for it, no tangible improvement - even with ATH-M50xs, also completely useless is the Motherboard which will also give no tangible improvements over the next highest Asus Z97 ROG motherboard, the Maximus VII Hero, the ram can be pulled down to 16GB and you'd still have as good of a computer as you would with 32GB as far as general usage & gaming is concerned.

With the money you saved on the above things, you could totally buy a second GTX980 and with GTX980 SLI (or for the same price, 1x Titan X) you'll have a much bigger performance boost than you would have from the increased ram, motherboard & soundcard. You're also going to want a slightly better Power supply for such an expensive build.

TL;DR: you are investing too much money in the wrong places.

Also, to stick more with the red/black colour scheme, I'd suggest the Corsair H105 instead of the H100i. The H100i has issues with leaking and the H105 is a better AIO all together Not to mention the red rings.
