Well if it was a marketing gimick, it worked on me. Order just placed for an EVGA 3080 (pretty much the highest end on instock).

This is sad, I was hoping to eventually upgrade my EVGA 1070Ti with due time. But here we are. This will be a 'collectors edition' eventually. One not to throw the box away on.

Reviewers, unless they indicate otherwise discuss the quality of a motherboard in terms of overclocking an i9 or 5950X.

Pretty much any motherboard will easily handle an i3.

Yep, same old blob of extruded aluminum, but for an i3, that's enough. If you look at an i5 instead, then an aftermarket cooler is a good idea because the higher-end chips will run at crazy TDPs if given the chance. But for what you're describing, there is absolutely no reason to spring for an i5 or higher.

The sick, sad truth about RAM is that the NAND, the part that matters, all comes from one of three places. DDR4-3000 RAM is almost certainly using the same Hynix NAND when you're paying $45 for 8GB of OLOy or $55 for 8GB of Corsair LPX. RGB and overclocking ability on the high end are where the price difference starts to be worth it--assuming you want RGB RAM or need DDR4-5000 for some reason.

What are you putting a Noctua on an i3 for? Stick with the stock cooler and put that money towards 16GB of RAM. The Samsung NVMe is also way overkill, and you can get 500GB NVMe drives that you'll never notice the difference with for the same or less.

For what you're describing, some of your choices don't seem to make sense, as noted above. You can either upgrade elsewhere or save money by going with, for example, Team Group RAM, the Intel stock cooler and an Adata or Inland SSD.

Chris_R. got a reaction from Falcon1986 in Streaming Desktop Audio to Network
Thanks Falcon, the 20 songs was not the issue, just streaming a youtube video audio across the network.

I was able to find a solution using VLC Media player. You can just set it up to initially do a entire screen share and network stream, but then limit the output to MP3 only.
You must have a stereo mix option available and enabled in your sound settings.
After you do that on the secondary PC, you just open VLC on the main PC and open a network stream, IP address is whatever the secondary PC's network IP is plus ":8080"

Works really nicely, this allows Youtube, iHearRadio, and whatever else you want to be streamed, as well as controlled by the second computer.

Screenshots how I set it up on the secondary pc:

If these PCs are networked, you could create a shared folder on the Win7 PC containing the media then play back on the newer PC using a media player. The volume control manager should allow per-app control of volume.

The raspberry pi can run c# (.NET) exe files with mono on raspbian. You can make either a windows forms application or a console application. It is a bit more limited than a full windows environment though.

Another option would be to run windows 10 IOT core on the pi. That way you can run windows UWP apps (Also C#).

I usually sleep with a box fan. That helps drown out all but the loudest and most sudden noises.

At times, I've had neighbors, either next to me in dorm rooms or above me in apartments that were extremely inconsiderate. I usually dealt with those by being a dick.

At one point I had to tell a dorm neighbor, at 3 AM, that he's not as good a singer as Steve Perry. Once, with the same individual, it became pretty obvious to me that the girls he had over were faking (The beds were rickety, and positioned so that the headboard was next to our shared wall, common sense will tell you in what situation it becomes obvious that someone is faking), so one night, my buddy and I knocked on his door, repeatedly, until he opened it. When he finally did, we ran in, emptied four large bottles of silly string on everything in his room, and left. He tried to stand in our way as we were exiting, but we just sprayed him with silly string too. Coincidentally, he never bothered me again.

Another time, my roomate and I had to tell upstairs neighbors in an apartment to stop having a party. We had a nice talk about how we wouldn't start complaining to the apartment office if they would start being quiet and also stop throwing biodegradeables off their balcony, which inevitably landed on our porch. They had been throwing parties every night for nearly two weeks.

At that time in my life I would have killed to have neighbors where the worst thing they did was close a door. The way around normal house noises is to sleep with a good box fan. That usually drowns out most noises, atleast it has for me.

Chris_R. got a reaction from cj09beira in Your 8 char random password now means nothing
Do you want to know generically why??

With most older banks using mainframes as their primary source of transaction processing, there is something, some rule, or some limitation I remember learning about in college, that most passwords on the mainframe are only 8 characters. I think this comes from a time when the values were required to be 8 characters due to size or something. They are slowly improving this though however mostly on the back end for developers less so on the front end. At least that's what I've heard.

I could also be completely wrong.

In-ear design is with silicone cup that yous tick directly into your ear canal. Ear-bud is design where headphones hang inside outer part of the ear. I also bought bunch of foam pads so whenever they get a bit dirty I just replace them with new. The silicon cups get really nasty really fast no matter how clean ears you have. And the feel is just weird. I had great bass and sound leaking really isn't an issue. Sometimes it's even preferable that I can hear outside world a bit...

I'm not 100% but I ran into this problem a while back. I played around with it, but in the end I think I found Marcin only copies exactly the source drive and it's sectors down to the size of them. Because of that it leaves any space as unallocated on the destination drive.

I played around with it but in the end I just expanded the unallocated space to a new partition. Shows up as a second drive but still works. You can do this using the windows drive manager.

Interested to see if anyone else has a solution to this as well.

I wasn't sure so I did some quick research...here is a good post from Tom's Hardware forms:

    http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3662700/fast-liquid-cpu-cooler-pump-running-cooler-master-masterliquid.html

So it looks like it could be normal to run at that RPM and not be variable but I am no expert...it may be worth while to look and research your specific AIO to see if it is the same way as quoted.
