Would like to suggest a couple programs:

Hitfilm Express - A free video editing/compositing suite that is pretty similar in design to Adobe Premiere Pro. Nice for those who use Premiere Pro but can't or won't subscribe for it. Has many optional addons that can be purchased to increase its feature set, or can be upgraded any time to Hitfilm Pro.

ShutUp10 - An intuitive, easy to use tool to control how much and what kind of telemetry Windows 10 collects and sends.

I don't have to delete old games for space either :P. I have 2 TB of total SSD space though.

A couple weeks ago my friend bought an RTX 2070 and installed it. Immediately he called me up and complained about the card overheating and throttling. I went through the usual troubleshooting steps to no avail. So I went to his place to have a look at it myself.

Turns out the guy forgot to take off the plastic that covered one of the fans, and it had been preventing the fan from spinning.

I still troll him about that one.

Phentos got a reaction from Ben17 in AMD Ryzen 7 1700X/1800X or Ryzen Threadripper 1900X
When AM4 has just as long of a lifespan as TR4, that point is moot. AMD =/= Intel.

If OP were doing heavier workloads like high resolution video editing or daily streaming with high res/bitrate, then sure I'd advise OP to go for Threadripper.

But he's not. Therefore AM4 provides the better value. Threadripper's reduced performance in games was not even brought up either.

Threadripper is beyond overkill for your desired usage.

The Ryzen 1700 or 1700X are what you should be looking at. The 1700X if you don't want to overclock, or the 1700 if you do.

If you are on a tighter budget, then go for the 1600.

So apparently Youtube thinks mass unsubscribe movements are toxic and unbecoming of the community but the rampant copyright system and Content ID abuse aren't?

Phentos got a reaction from Cyberspirit in What do you guys spend your time with?
    Daily routine here.
If I work days: Wake up, shower, eat small breakfast (sometimes), go to work, sit at desk doing exciting IT stuff all day, come home, go on PC and play something for a bit, do work, or continue writing, then eat dinner, shower, go to bed.
If I work nights: Who the hell knows at this point tbh ?.

Every week I try to visit the gym at least once. My social life is slowly whittling away over time though, such that when going to school I used to hang out with IRL friends twice a week or so, now I barely have time to visit a couple of them maybe twice a month. I don't date because I have confidence and self-esteem problems.

Pretty pathetic tbh. At least the money from my job's pretty decent.

Phentos got a reaction from Kitsan in 2080ti getting better memory?
I know Nvidia's supposed to refresh most RTX 20-series cards with 16Gbps memory from Samsung, but I'm not sure if the 2080TI would be among the refreshes. It's kind of in a class of its own atm. I highly doubt Navi will prove a significant threat to it.

However I have heard from a few sites that the TU102 and 104 chips might be refreshed with more CUDA cores enabled at some point. Maybe not quite as much as the Titan RTX on the part of the 2080TI, but close enough to not really matter.

If Nvidia releases a 2080 with 3072 CUDA cores and 16Gbps memory I might look into it. I wanna pass down my haggard 1080TI to my cousin, who's still slumming it on a 1060 3GB.

Likely no, traces sure, but extremely doubtful anything harmful was left, just crumbs hinting at what was there.
Just pickup a free AV and be done with it lol, then stop going to shady porn sites and especially dont click ads. I know hot single moms in your area want your d, but dont pay the price of russian super viruses.

Phentos got a reaction from ImAyaanKhan in What convinced you to switch from Console to PC?
I switched to PC back in 2008 because I wanted to play Crysis and Oblivion at better than 480p on an HP laptop my parents bought me for school.

I was in high school at the time, so I could only afford to build a modest PC with an Athlon 6000 and an HD 4850. Not a very good combo even at the time I think, but it was enough to run Crysis at medium settings, so I was happy. Oblivion ran flawlessly at max settings with mods, so I was even happier.

I thought I was in really good shape with my 19 inch 1440x900 monitor too. A nice step up from the laptop.

Been a PC enthusiast since. Though I do own a PS4 because there's a lot of PS4 exclusive games I like.

AMD's Radeon drivers have historically not been all that great during the launches of their GPU lineups. However over time they iron out the kinks and let their GPUs stretch their legs, especially in games. Hence the FineWine.

As long as Facebook can still find ways to profit off your data, it will never be actually private.

Still have absolutely no regrets about deleting my Facebook account back in 2012, when they actually let you fully delete it. And I still do not intend to make a new one.

Instead of having the 970 Evo NVMe drive, consider a 1TB SATA (Crucial MX500 is a good one) or a cheaper NVMe SSD (Intel 660p is very good value for money).

Use the money saved by ditching the 970 Evo to get a 2700X.
